Mama also records ‘most wins’ on Melon… Espa sweeps various award ceremonies

The group aespa is sweeping many awards at year-end music awards ceremonies. Aespa, who debuted with a new worldview featuring aespa's avatar in the virtual world, 'ae-aespa', has recently expanded their worldview to a multiverse, broadening their connection with the public. It seems that they have established their group identity and blossomed in their fourth year since debut.

At the 'Melon Music Awards 2024' held at Incheon Inspire Arena on the 30th of last month, Espa won a total of 7 trophies, including 3 grand prizes including Album of the Year, Best Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year, as well as Top 10, Million Top 10, Best Performance, and Best Group. This is the record for the most awards won at an awards ceremony held that day.

Espa went up on the podium and said, “We worked hard to prepare for our first full-length album ‘Armageddon,’ and I’m so happy that our feelings were conveyed well. I don’t think we’ll ever forget 2024. I’m grateful to the staff and Mai (fandom name) who made this year possible, and I love you all.” They continued, “It was a year when we thought a lot about our music, but I think it’s been rewarded. We’ll become singers who work hard to sing for the next 3, 5, and 10 years.”

At the '2024 MAMA Awards' held on the 22nd and 23rd of last month, aespa won six awards, including the grand prize 'Song of the Year', Best Female Group, Best Girl Group Performance, Best Choreography, Best Music Video, and Fan's Choice. This is also a record for the most awards.

This year, aespa has had successive hits, starting with the title track of their first full-length album, "Supernova," followed by "Armageddon," "Whiplash," and member Karina's solo track "Up." In particular, "Supernova" topped Melon's weekly chart for 15 consecutive weeks, breaking the record for the longest-running #1 streak in 20 years.
