The reason GD became a visiting professor at KAIST?

 

I was quite surprised to hear the news that singer G-Dragon had been appointed as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST and was currently active there.

 

To think GD is a visiting professor at KAIST's Department of Mechanical Engineering, not even the Department of Applied Music!

As he stood on the podium of the engineering college dealing with cutting-edge science and technology, he garnered great attention at the time as "the meeting of a scientific genius and a musical genius."

 

But why is he a mechanical engineering professor?

It is said to be for 'Enter-tech' research that integrates the latest science and technology into K-content and the cultural industry.

 

Mechanical engineering deals not only with machines but also serves as the foundation for advanced technologies that connect virtual reality and reality, such as robotics, the metaverse, AI, motion capture, and haptics (tactile technology beyond sight and hearing).

 

We aim to innovate cultural content that will lead the global market by combining KAIST's world-class technology with G-Dragon's unique creativity.

 

G-Dragon also left a witty remark at the time of his appointment, saying, "I look forward to a 'Big Bang' happening when science geniuses and entertainment tech meet."

 

I know there are some who view GD's appointment as a visiting professor at KAIST, the pinnacle of science in our country, negatively, but since he has stepped forward to pioneer a new frontier through the collaboration of science and culture, let's give him a little more time.
