The reason GD became a KAIST professor is because of 'this'

The professorship that G-Dragon was appointed to is not a regular professorship that usually creates a curriculum and teaches classes throughout the semester, but rather a 'special professor'.

The dictionary definition of a special professor is a person who has been specially appointed for the development of a school because he or she is recognized as being suitable for carrying out and exchanging specific educational or research or cultural activities due to his or her outstanding activities in the fields of education, research, industry, science and technology, management, society, or culture.

In short, it is a professorship that focuses on special lectures and only gives lectures when there is special work within the university.

Accordingly, G-Dragon was appointed as a special professor to share his experiences and life as a world-class artist with undergraduate and graduate students, and to provide them with a vision, insight, and inspiration for viewing the world. The purpose is to combine the scientific vision led by KAIST with G-Dragon’s rich cultural experience.

KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung said, “Considering that KAIST has always been a university that has explored new things and pioneered unknown areas since its founding, I believe that Professor Kwon Ji-yong also shares KAIST’s DNA in that he is a leader and pioneer who has achieved world-class success in the cultural and arts fields.”

Meanwhile, G-Dragon's professorship will last for two years, from the 4th to June 2026. He will also be appointed as KAIST's global ambassador, helping to strengthen overseas promotions.
