BTS, whose economic impact is estimated at 56 trillion won, also served in the military… Is it fair? News!

Representative Seong Il-jong, Chairman of the National Assembly Defense Committee, said during the state audit of the Military Manpower Administration

I pointed out the issue of fairness in the special military service system for arts and sports personnel.

Among the art competitions currently recognized as exempt from military service,

Even though it is a domestic competition, it is called ‘international’

In many cases, you will receive benefits,

91% of all subjects are from this type of competition.

A controversy has been raised about fairness.

Representative Seong said that people like BTS have created an economic effect of 56 trillion won.

While he did not receive special military service,

Criticizing the reality that winners of domestic competitions receive benefits

I called for institutional reform.

BTS is more than just a star

He is a cultural ambassador who introduced Korea to the world.

The economic effect they created amounts to 56 trillion won,

To enhance Korea's image and status

He made a huge contribution.

However, those who are excluded from the special military service exemption are

This is an example that shows the gap between the system and reality.

Just give the domestic competition the name 'international'

The structure that benefits is

It needs to be reexamined in terms of fairness and equity.

Promotion of national prestige through culture and arts

It's no longer limited to traditional arts.

Even pop culture artists with global influence like BTS

That contribution deserves recognition.

As times change, systems must also change.

So that the path BTS has walked will not be in vain,

Fair standards and a future-oriented military service system

I sincerely hope that it will be arranged.
