If you needed proof that BTS's return to America was going to be a cultural event and not just a music release, look no further than what happened at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 25 and 26, 2026.
NBC announced that BTS would appear on not one, but two back-to-back Tonight Show episodes. The group would sit down together as a group for an interview on March 25, then return the following night for a second performance — marking their first group late-night interview since returning from military service.
The first night was pure magic. Jimmy Fallon opened the show by warmly telling the seven guests crammed on two couches, "I just want to tell you we've missed you." BTS chatted about their return from mandatory military enlistment and what each member missed about the others during their time apart.
In their extended interview, the group addressed fan questions and delved into the inspiration behind three songs on ARIRANG. J-Hope explained the meaning of "Swim": "I think Swim was about a message that we got from what was in our heart. We feel that life has struggles we overcome every day. People feel different weights and tides in life. But nevertheless, we need to keep swimming. This is just about the love for life itself."
The group also brought the laughter. When asked if anyone had driven in a car with RM yet, since he just got his license, V could be heard whispering "Scary" over his bandmates' chatter. Jin reprised his famous "how many butts do you have" debate from a previous Fallon visit, sending the crowd into fits. The members also revealed that during the two months they lived together in Los Angeles while recording ARIRANG, Jungkook was the messiest roommate — he had two suitcases permanently open on his floor for the entire two months.
Then came the performance. Instead of using the 30 Rock studio, the show brought BTS and a select crowd to New York's Guggenheim Museum, where the members started in various sections of the iconic building before gathering on a circular stage on the museum's ground floor to perform "Swim."
The event was attended by 150 fans invited by the show, and Jimmy Fallon later called their performance "unlike any other."
Seven men, two nights, one museum, and millions of ARMY watching at home.
