Seeing BTS and Jennie's Billboard achievements, the status of K-pop is truly amazing.
Seeing the latest news on the Billboard charts makes me realize once again just how immense the influence of K-pop is. BTS continues to maintain high positions on the main charts with their 5th studio album 'Arirang,' and the fact that their title track 'SWIM' has been in the top ranks of the Hot 100 for 7 consecutive weeks is truly an incredible record.
In particular, the fact that the album maintained a Top 10 position on the Billboard 200 for seven consecutive weeks seems even more meaningful, as it feels like they captured mainstream appeal as well, not just fan power. It also appears to be creating proper synergy with the world tour.
And it was really surprising that Jennie's solo remix reached number 10 on the Hot 100. They say it's her first Top 10 as a solo artist, and the collaboration with Tame Impala is fresh, so I can see why the overseas reaction is so good. It seems like she's getting more attention because her music style is different from the existing K-pop feel.
Seeing the OSTs for *Cats Eye* and *Category Dead Hunt* consistently staying on the charts, it feels like K-pop itself has completely established itself in the global market, rather than just specific teams succeeding. It makes me feel proud for no reason whenever I hear news like this.
