BTS Busan Concert Draws 2.12 Million Subway Users… Busan’s Potential Shines

It has been reported that the number of passengers using the Busan Metro reached a whopping 2.12 million on the 12th and 13th, when BTS’s concerts were held in Busan. In particular, Sports Complex Station near the concert venue reportedly operated without major congestion despite a rush of 5 to 6 times more passengers than usual.

As fans from across the country and even overseas visited Busan to see the performance, transportation demand increased explosively. The Busan Transportation Corporation supported smooth transportation by increasing the number of trains, extending operating hours, and deploying safety personnel.

The fact that the event concluded without any safety incidents, despite being a large-scale event involving the movement of countless spectators at once, appears to be a demonstration of the Busan Metro's transport capacity and safety management capabilities. While the BTS concert breathed new life into Busan, the transportation system that supported it seems to have played a significant role as well.
