Shouldn't they have presented fair opportunities and standards?

I read the article explaining the Grammys' stance on the BTS boycott, and it leaves a truly bitter taste. If they truly wanted to communicate and showed respect, shouldn't they have presented fair opportunities and standards long ago? They consistently applied exceptionally harsh standards to artists who have perfectly proven their popularity, musicality, and digital chart performance, and now they claim it is a misunderstanding? This is not a misunderstanding; it is the Grammys' own doing. I believe this boycott is a bold warning thrown at an unfair system. I wholeheartedly support BTS's principled stance.
