News of the arrest of BTS concert ticket scalpers

There is news that a ticket scalper who has been reselling BTS concert tickets for much higher than the face value has been arrested by the police.

According to a police investigation, this man used macro programs and multiple accounts to purchase tickets for popular concerts in bulk and resell them. He is accused of using up to seven accounts belonging to family members and relatives, and of obtaining illicit profits of approximately 2.4 billion won by reselling 8,967 concert and sports tickets over a period of about eight years.

In particular, it was reported that tickets for the 2019 BTS concert were purchased at the original price of 110,000 won and sold for 3 million won. It is even more surprising considering the price amounts to approximately 27 times the original price.

It is said that not only BTS but also tickets for various idol concerts, performances by visiting foreign singers, and popular soccer matches were targeted for scalping. The police reportedly assessed assets worth approximately 1.3 billion won as proceeds of crime and took measures to seize and preserve them before indictment.

I think it is really upsetting for the fans who are waiting for the performance.
I hope that in the future, ticket hoarding using macros and excessive scalping will decrease, even if only slightly.
