BTS kicked off the South American leg of their ARIRANG World Tour at the Estadio El Campin in Bogota, Colombia, on October 2 and 3. Starting in Bogota, the tour is said to continue with 14 performances across five cities: Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and São Paulo, Brazil.
It is said that this is the first time they are performing as a complete group in Colombia and Argentina. Perhaps that is why local interest seems to be quite significant. The Tourism Observatory under the Bogota Tourism Board projected that the two performances would generate over 40.6 billion won in spending, while the Bogota City Economic Development Bureau estimated an economic ripple effect of approximately 51.7 billion won and the creation of about 5,244 jobs.
There is news from other cities as well. Chile estimates the economic impact of the three performances in Santiago at approximately 72 billion won, and in Peru, the waiting list for tickets has reportedly exceeded 521,000 people. In Lima, the first drone show in South America, prepared by fans, is also set to take place. In São Paulo, Brazil, over 630,000 people flocked to the membership pre-sale over the course of two days.
Their music performance is also consistent. Their 5th studio album, ARIRANG, released last March, ranked 3rd on Spotify's Weekly Top Albums Global, and the title track, SWIM, reportedly ranked 24th on the Weekly Top Songs Global. It is great to see their tour and digital music results continuing together.
Now that the South American schedule has just begun, I expect news about performances in each city will continue to come out. I will keep up the updates as news about new stages is posted.
