Jin, Q&A on the release of new album ‘Happy’ today

Q. How do you feel about releasing your first solo album 'Happy'?

First of all, it is meaningful that a solo album is coming out under my name, and I hope that my fans will like it. And I hope that everyone who listens to this album will be happy. This album reflects a lot of my opinions. It is an album that fully reflects my tastes, so I think I will be happy if I get responses like, “The song is good,” and “I want to listen to it again.” (Laughs)

Q. What are the highlights of ‘Happy’?

This album is based on the sound of my favorite band. Since band sounds are especially exciting when heard at a concert, I recommend listening to it while imagining what it would be like to hear these songs at a concert.

Q. How did you feel when you first heard the title song 'Running Wild'?

It felt like a nostalgic feeling from the past. So I chose 'Running Wild' as the title song because I wanted the listeners to feel comfortable and familiar with the song.

Q. Behind the scenes of working with Gary Barlow of the legendary British pop band Take That, who you participated in as a producer.

I made a lot of pronunciation corrections while recording. It was a little confusing because the American and British pronunciations are different, but I recorded it several times and tried my best to use the correct pronunciation. Of course, it was also because my pronunciation is not great. (Laughs)

Q. What did you pay attention to when creating 'I'll Be There', a rockabilly genre that is somewhat unfamiliar in Korea?

Since it was a song that I wrote from the beginning with the intention of singing, there weren't many difficulties. However, I had to make the lyrics 'One Two Three Four' exciting, but I couldn't do it well, so I recorded it several times.

Q. Behind the lyrics of the fan song ‘Longing’.

I wrote down a few lines of the feelings I had after becoming a trainee. It was a record of honest feelings like, 'The fans are waiting, I have to sing, I have to perform.' Based on that, I looked back on my feelings at that time and wrote lyrics expressing my desire to return to the fans as soon as possible. I hope this feeling will reach the fans.

Q. What makes Jin ‘happy’ now?

I think I've been doing a lot of different activities recently. When I see my fans enjoying and being happy while watching those activities, I feel happy too. I thought, 'I'm working for this taste.'

Q. Lastly, what would you like to say to ARMYs around the world?

First of all, I want to thank all the ARMYs who have been waiting for the album. I think the album 'Happy' was able to come out because of you. Our ARMYs, I will show my face a lot, including the other members, so don't be bored! I love you!
