[All] BTS Jungkook Wins Billboard's 'Top K-Pop Album - Top Global K-Pop Song' Double Crown
BTS' Jungkook (pictured) performed well at the Billboard Music Awards and year-end charts with his first solo album.
At the '2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs)' held on the 12th (local time), Jungkook won two awards, 'Top K-Pop Album' and 'Top Global K-Pop Song' for his first solo album 'Golden' and the title song 'Standing Next To You'. This is his second consecutive win in the same category, following his 'Top Global K-Pop Song' trophy last year for his pre-released single 'Seven'. He did not attend the awards ceremony due to his military service.
'Golden', released in November last year, entered Billboard's main album chart, Billboard 200, at number 2, and stayed on the chart for 24 consecutive weeks. This is the longest record for a Korean solo artist's album. 'Standing Next to You' ranked on Billboard's main single chart, Hot 100, for 19 consecutive weeks.
Thanks to this, Jungkook's name was listed in various places on Billboard's year-end charts released on the 13th (local time). On the 'Billboard 200' year-end chart, he ranked 80th, the highest for a Korean solo artist. Jimin, a member of the same group, ranked 200th with his solo album 'Muse'. As a non-solo member of BTS, the two ranked 56th on this chart with their 2022 regular album 'Proof'.
Jungkook also ranked 60th on the year-end Top Artist chart, which ranks artists based on album and single sales. It's the second-highest ranking for a K-pop soloist after Psy, who ranked 56th in 2012.
Meanwhile, at the BBMAs, Stray Kids won the 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' category, and Seventeen won the 'Top K-Pop Touring Artist' category.
