BTS V's solo song 'Christmas Tree' was selected as one of Billboard's '25 Best Christmas Songs of the 21st Century'.
Billboard recently introduced classic carols and carols beloved in the late 20th century, saying, "We firmly believe that one of the best parts of the holiday season every year is music."
He continued, "With all due respect to the pre-Y2K tracks that captivated us for decades, the 2000s had some great holiday tunes, too. Some of the best Christmas tracks of the 21st century are hidden gems, some hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, and some are becoming generational classics. Each is a timeless piece of art that celebrates the best time of the year." He reflected on the significance of 21st century Christmas songs.
Billboard said, "Over the past 25 years, there have been countless Christmas songs, from up-tempo tunes to stripped-down tracks that capture the beauty of the season," and announced the "25 Best Christmas Songs of the Season" selected by Billboard staff.
V's "Christmas Tree" was introduced as the 19th song along with part of the lyrics. Along with "Christmas Tree," Kelly Clarkson's "Underneath the Tree," Ariana Grande's "Santa Tell Me," Sia's "Snowman," Justin Bieber's "Mistletoe," Mariah Carey's "Oh Santa!", and Michael Buble's "Cold December Night" were selected as the best Christmas songs of the 21st century.
'Christmas Tree' is an OST for the drama 'That Year, Us' released on December 24, 2021. It is a song that maximizes V's emotional vocals and was praised for increasing the immersion of the drama.
Although 'Christmas Tree' was not released as a carol, it was also selected as one of the '24 Christmas Season Songs Released Since Y2K' playlists by American media outlet Elite Daily.
