I read the story DAY6’s Young K shared while preparing his second solo full-length album, YOUNGEST. Released last July, the album contains a total of fifteen songs, including the title track, Shut The Door. It is said that Young K participated in writing and composing all the tracks, expressing various moments of his life through music.
He also honestly explained the reason for the large number of songs. He said that he didn't know when he would be able to release an album with this many songs again, so he wanted to share as much music as possible when the opportunity arose. Since this is his first work in about 2 years and 10 months since his previous solo studio album, *Letters with Notes*, I am even more curious about the stories that have accumulated during that time.
Regarding the title track "Shut The Door," the song describes the feeling of liberation and freedom experienced in one's own space after being hurt and closing a door inside. Young K also mentioned that he wrote the song quickly, as if writing a diary. It is a story that makes you reflect on the various emotions associated with the act of closing a door.
The working methods for the tracks are all different. The song "Coffee in the Studio" started spontaneously in the recording studio and was completed on the spot; it was included in the album because the first version sung was liked. If you look at the titles of the fifteen songs in order, it seems as though one person's daily life and thoughts are captured in various scenes.
