JB's album TR.EE, likened to a tree

I found it interesting how GOT7's JB likened his solo album TR.EE to a tree. He said he chose it as the central image of the album because he felt that the process of growing a tree is similar to building and nurturing relationships. He shared that through this process, he also came to reflect on his own roots, and that stories about growth served as the foundation of his work.

The title track "Layback" was chosen after considering a song that could showcase both R&B and dance performance. It is said to convey the message that sometimes, we should take a step back and view situations with a more relaxed mindset. Now that I know the meaning behind the title, I am curious to see how it connects with the other songs on the album.

They said that even when deciding the order of the songs, they envisioned a tree growing from its roots and blooming. They explained that although the final track, "We," is not the title song, they feel it is the root of the album. I remember them saying they hoped listeners would follow the songs in order and discover their meaning at the end.

JB stated that in this work, he wanted to capture emotions that resonate not only with his own experiences but also with the listener. He also cited the space between "Overflow" and "One Call Away" as the point where his perspective shifts from "me" to "us." The way he portrayed the changes in relationships through music is impressive.
