IU and Byun Woo-seok meet through romance… Casting for drama '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife'

(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Eunjae Ahn = IU and Wooseok Byun will be working together in a romantic drama.

Kakao Entertainment announced on the 2nd that IU and Byun Woo-seok have been confirmed to be cast in the new MBC drama '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife' (working title, written by Yoo Ah-in, planned by Kang Dae-sun).

'The 21st Century Grand Prince's Wife' is a romance that breaks away from status between a woman who has everything but is merely a 'commoner' in status, and a man who is sad because he is the son of a king but cannot have anything, set in the 21st century constitutional monarchy of the Republic of Korea. It is the winning work in the MBC drama script contest, and MBC and Kakao Entertainment will be in charge of production.

IU plays Sung Hee-joo, the second daughter of a wealthy family with a silver spoon in her mouth, who is blessed with beauty, intelligence, and a fierce competitive spirit. Her commoner status, which she thought was nothing special, becomes an obstacle in her life, and she becomes entangled with Prince Ian. IU has shown off her solid acting skills across genres, with her intimate and delicate emotions and captivating gazes in works such as “My Mister,” “Hotel Del Luna,” and “Broker.” Expectations are rising for how she will charmingly portray Sung Hee-joo in this work and her splendid acting transformation.

Byun Woo-seok plays Prince Ian of the 21st century constitutional monarchy Republic of Korea.
