IU cleared of plagiarism suspicions… Wins lawsuit against unidentified malicious commenter

Singer and actress IU has won a lawsuit for damages against malicious commenter A, who alleged plagiarism.

On the 18th, the 29th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court held a ruling date for the 30 million won damages lawsuit filed by IU against person A and ruled in favor of the plaintiff.

Previously, in May of last year, Mr. A sued IU, claiming that six of IU's hit songs, including "Good Day," "Pink Shoes," "Bbi Bbi," and "Celebrity," infringed on his copyright.

IU only participated in composing 'Celebrity' and produced 'Bbibi'. However, there were many reactions that criticized IU for not actually participating in the rest of the songs. The police also dismissed Mr. A's complaint in August of last year.

IU filed a lawsuit against Mr. A, demanding 30 million won in damages, but ultimately failed to identify him or his whereabouts.

The court concluded the argument by stating, "We have no choice but to make a judgment based solely on the claims and evidence submitted by the plaintiff."

With this victory, IU has cleared herself of plagiarism suspicions.
