1. Lee Kyung-sil, why is the 89-pyeong apartment up for auction?
There was news that broadcaster Lee Kyung-sil's apartment in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul was recently put up for auction. The apartment in question is called Jeongwoo Mansion, and its exclusive area is a whopping 89 pyeong. The starting bid price was set at 2.55 billion won.


This apartment was purchased by Lee Kyung-sil for 1.4 billion won in 2007 and has been her residence since then. However, in September of last year, Lee Kyung-sil was unable to repay the 1.33 billion won debt she borrowed as collateral, so the creditor filed for a voluntary auction, and it is currently said to have been turned over to a loan company.

2. Suspended broadcasting activities after husband's incident
Lee Kyung-sil has barely been on the air since 2015, and the reason is her husband Choi's sexual assault case. In August 2024, Choi was brought to trial on charges of sexually assaulting an acquaintance, Ms. A, after a drinking party, and was eventually sentenced to 10 months in prison and detained in court in February 2025. The appeal was also dismissed, and the sentence was finalized.

3. Lee Kyung-sil also fined for defamation of victim
At the time , Ms. Lee Kyung-sil actively denied her husband's charges and distributed a press release that defamed the victim, for which she was fined 1 million won for defamation. Since then, she has been hiding from public appearances and is said to have been going hiking instead of broadcasting to calm her mind.

4. Married life that was not smooth even with ex-husband
In fact, Ms. Lee Kyung-sil has had a difficult marriage in the past. In 2003, she divorced her ex-husband after being assaulted by him. Recently, there have been rumors in some communities that her ex-husband was a former gangster, but there is no solid evidence to support this.
