Vince: "Even though 'Kadehen' was a huge hit, I'm still hungry..." G-Dragon: "Do you want to be a star?" (Interview)

(Xports News, Reporter Jang In-young) Singer-songwriter and producer Vince has returned with G-Dragon on his back. His trend is reaching its peak.

Recently, in an interview to commemorate the release of the new digital single "CHA CHA CHA" held at a cafe in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Vince said, "Right now, The Black Label artists and their works are doing well. I hope to follow in their footsteps and ride the wave of success. I'm grateful that a big artist like G-Dragon helped me, but I also feel a sense of pressure and will work hard." He shared his thoughts on his comeback.

As a producer under The Black Label, Vince has been active in the center of K-pop, working on representative songs for Taeyang, Jeon Somi, MEOVV, and ALLDAY PROJECT. He also participated in the OST for the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' (hereafter referred to as 'K-Pop Demon Hunters'), which recently became a global phenomenon, drawing attention. He said, "Actually, I prepared really hard for the ALLDAY Project, and I think the results were worth it," and "I didn't have high expectations for 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' but the response has been so great that I can't even tell if it's a dream or reality. This is the first time we've ranked this high on Billboard's 'Hot 100.' It's a scale I've never experienced before, so I think I'll only really feel it when I get the money."

Big Bang member G-Dragon's participation in the featuring quickly became a hot topic. Vince recalled, "After G-Dragon was discharged from the military, he often came to The Black Label to prepare Big Bang songs and his solo songs. During that time, he was continuously making 'Cha Cha Cha,' and one of the producers casually asked G-Dragon, 'Can you feature on 'Cha Cha Cha?' After listening to the song, he said, 'Vince, do you want to be a star?' So I said, 'I want to. Please help me.' After that, he happily worked with me. He helped me in every way."

The release date, August 18th, is also G-Dragon's birthday, making the collaboration even more meaningful to the two artists. However, Vince explained, "It wasn't intentional," and "I wanted to release the song in the summer, so I didn't want to miss the summer release window. But there are so many artists under The Black Label, and after coordinating the timing, there were only 18 days left for the release." He continued, "I jokingly said, 'It might come out on hyung's birthday,' and it really happened. In a way, it's like hyung giving me a present on his birthday. I think it will be a good opportunity for hyung's fans to hear his voice one more time on their birthday."

When asked if the featuring spot was decided from the beginning, Vince said, "I felt bored singing the second verse alone. I thought it would be nice to be featured, but there wasn't anyone in particular that I wanted to feature from." He continued, "The company producer suggested G-Dragon. As soon as I heard him, he was number one, almost the only one, and he accepted right away, so I was able to complete the song without hesitation."

"Cha Cha Cha" is inspired by Seol Woon-do's national hit "All Together Cha Cha Cha." Vince said, "I thought it would be fun to reinterpret a song that everyone knows in Korea in a more modern way. I kept the concept the same, but changed the lyrics to make it more contemporary, and reinterpreted the final bridge. I hope everyone from our parents' age to children will enjoy it in a light and fun way."

Vince, who said that his style was also influenced by Seol Woon-do, explained, "When I saw Seol Woon-do's 'Let's Eat Dinner Together' stage, I thought it was really cool how he sang in a suit. He felt like Sinatra from the US. I dressed up too because I wanted to show the feeling of that cool singer."
