[JTBC Enter News = Reporter Park Jung-sun] The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards raises the curtain on a true festival of popular culture and arts.

The '62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci,' the nation's only comprehensive arts awards ceremony encompassing broadcasting, film, theater, and musicals, will be held at Coex Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at 7:50 PM on the 8th. The three MCs, Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum, who are working together for the eighth time, will host the awards ceremony again this year.

Marking the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals this year, a new musical section has been established to bring together all areas of popular culture and arts, alongside broadcasting, film, and theater. It breaks down boundaries between genres and is reborn as a festival that encompasses all fields of K-content.

The trust and fairness built over the past 62 years remain unchanged this time as well. This year's Baeksang Awards are expected to be a gathering where numerous artists who have illuminated popular culture over the past year come together to complete a narrative of harmony.

The Italian luxury brand Gucci is participating as a partner for the fourth consecutive year for the '62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci'. It will be broadcast live simultaneously on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4, and will be exclusively live-streamed digitally on Naver.

▶Film Section

The strength and artistic achievements of Korean cinema, proven on the screen over the past year, will once again bear fruit at this year's Baeksang Arts Awards. From masters shining with a weighty presence to the young blood who have become the new center of Chungmuro, and ambitious newcomers, everyone has gathered at Baeksang, elevating the prestige of the awards ceremony with high attendance. Above all, as if carrying on the legacy of the new history written last year with the "First-ever Staff Grand Prize," one of the most heartwarming highlights to watch is that all nominees for the Arts Award—who usually work fiercely on the field—have responded to the invitation to attend the ceremony and take their seats in person.

The teams behind "Unavoidable" and "The King and the Man Who Lives with Me," the two major contenders with the most nominations this year, nominated in seven categories including Best Picture, have already confirmed the attendance of all nominees. Leading the cast of "Unavoidable" is Director Park Chan-wook—the first Korean to serve as the jury president at the Cannes International Film Festival, who gratefully decided to attend the Baeksang Awards despite a tight schedule—along with Cinematographer Kim Woo-hyung, Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Lee Sung-min, and Yum Hye-ran, who will reunite after a long time. The "Team The King and the Man Who Lives with Me," which stirred up the nation by moving 16.8 million people, will also be seen in its complete lineup. Director Jang Hang-jun, Yoo Hae-jin, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Park Ji-hoon will enjoy the festival amidst the unceasing support of their fans.

The appearance of the stars of 'Master of the World' and 'Face,' which brilliantly demonstrated the power of Korean cinema with meaningful messages, is also drawing attention. Director Yoon Ga-eun, Jang Hye-jin, and Seo Su-bin will sit together for 'Master of the World,' while Director Yeon Sang-ho, Art Director Lee Mok-won, Park Jung-min, and Shin Hyun-bin will sit for 'Face.' Shin Se-kyung and Park Hae-joon of 'HUMINT,' which garnered acclaim as a captivating genre piece, will also happily take their seats, adding to the allure of the Baeksang Awards.

Director Lee Jong-pil, Music Director Lee Min-hwi, Moon Sang-min, and Ko Ah-sung of 'Pavane,' which captivated global audiences with its romantic cinematic sensibility, are also taking the stage. Ko Ah-sung, who is currently performing in a play, plans to join the awards ceremony immediately after finishing her performance on the day of the Baeksang Awards. Her affection and loyalty to the work are remarkable. Director Kim Do-young, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Moon Ga-young of 'If We,' who proved the enduring power of Korean melodrama, are also bringing the lingering impression left on the screen to the Baeksang Awards.

Jang Yong, known for *Man and Meat*, a film that expanded the diversity of the film industry through the realities and joyful rebellion of seniors, fills the depth of the Baeksang Awards with his sheer gravitas. He is joined by Director Yang Jong-hyun and Writer Im Na-moo. Also present are Ahn Hyo-seop, the central figure of *Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint*, which depicted the omniscient future perspective technology of Korean cinema rivaling Hollywood, and Supervisor Kim Woo-cheol. For *Good News*, editors Kim Sang-bum and Kim Ho-bin, along with Hong Kyung, possess an exceptional sense of responsibility.

The event is also filled with the fresh excitement of a first visit to the Baeksang Awards. Director Lee Ran-hee and Yoo Yi-ha of 'Third Semester 2', along with Director Park Joon-ho and Jo Yoo-hyun of '3670', are entering the Baeksang scene as the future stars that Chungmuro looks forward to. The nominees for Best New Director, whom cinephiles are particularly keeping an eye on, are also making a full appearance. There is considerable curiosity about who will take home the trophy among Director Kwon Yong-jae of 'High Sweetness', Director Kim Su-jin of 'Noise', Director Kim Yong-hwan of 'Letter of the Kite', Director Park Joon-ho of '3670', and Director Jang Byung-ki of 'After Summer', all of whom are coming with excited hearts.

The actors representing the works are symbolic in themselves. The protagonists are Lee Hye-young of the heart-wrenching 'The Fruit of the Wild', Han Ye-ri of 'Spring Night', the refreshing Cynthia of 'Tonight, Even If This Love Disappears from the World', Shin Eun-soo of 'History of Confession', Chae Won-bin of 'The Opposition Party', and Choi Yu-ri of 'Zombie Daughter'. Cynthia is also the only nominee to be named in both the broadcast and film categories this year.

▶Theater Section

Who will claim the honor of winning the eighth Baeksang Arts Awards in the Theater category? Having grown in influence based on the immense interest from the theater community since its revival at the 55th ceremony, the Theater category will once again identify the essence of stage art this year. As the boundaries of mass media are gradually blurring, winds of change are more noticeable than ever in the Baeksang Theater category. Attendance rates are also the highest every year.

The Baeksang Theater Awards, equivalent to the Grand Prize in the theater category, will be attended by all the key figures, including Director Park Hye-sun and Writer Kim Min-jung of 'The Last Visit'; CEO Ko Kang-min and actor Joo Min-jin of 'Mirror'; Artistic Director Park Jung-hee and Director Lee Cheol-hee of 'Samgyeong'; Director Ha Su-min, Head of Arts Business Division at the Seoul Cultural Foundation Han Ji-yeon, and Venue Operations Team Leader Ahn Mi-young of the Daehakro Theater Quad at the Seoul Cultural Foundation for 'End Wall'; and Bang Gwi-hee, Chairperson of the Korea Disabled Persons Culture and Arts Center; Oh Se-hyung, Head of Theater Operations at Modu Arts Theater; Seok Jae-won, CEO of Creative Table Seokyeong; and actor Baek Ji-yoon of 'Jellyfish', completing a true festival of popular culture and arts.

The lineup for the Young Theater Award in the theater category is also impressive. The nominees for the Young Theater Award, which pursues the youth of novelty rather than the youth of biological age, include Director Kim Yeon-min of 'ZOOM IN: Chekhov', Producer Park Tae-yang and Director Park Han-byul of Theater Company Moonjibang for 'Habub', Director Byun Young-jin and actor Yoo Hee-je of Theater Company Fire Chariot for 'Place', and Director Lee Ki-ppeum of Theater Company Creative Group LAS for 'Function Domino'.

All nominees, including those for the acting awards, are in attendance. Kwon Jung-hoon ('Tulip'), Kim Si-yu ('You Don't Know Your Son'), Kim Shin-rok ('Prima Passy'), Jeon Hye-jin ('[Antropolis II] Laios'), and Ji Chun-sung ('Samgyeong') are vying for the single trophy. Particularly interesting is the expansion of Kim Shin-rok and Jeon Hye-jin's horizons, as they have been nominated in the theater category following their nominations in the broadcasting and film sectors.

▶Musical Division

The Musical category, newly established to mark the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals, holds even greater significance and has fully expanded the scope of the Baeksang Awards. A platform for integration has been created that encompasses all fields of popular culture, including musicals alongside broadcasting, film, and theater. Consequently, there is more intense interest than in any other category regarding the birth of the first honorable winner.

All attendees have confirmed their participation in the Best Musical Award, which is presented to a work among original and licensed (non-replica) musicals that has achieved the most outstanding results in areas such as popularity, quality, and artistry, and is evaluated as having made a significant contribution to the musical field. Kim Jun-su of 'Beetlejuice', Min Kyung-ah of 'Red Book', and Yuria of 'Evita' have decided to attend the Acting Award, which is presented to the actor who demonstrated the most outstanding performance among both male and female cast members of original and licensed musicals.
