"11 Korean Content Associations Issue First 'Joint Declaration'..."Opening the Era of 220 Trillion Won in K-Content by 2030"
[OSEN=Reporter Choi Yi-jeong] Eleven leading associations and organizations in Korea's content industry have joined hands for the first time to announce a new future vision for K-content.
The K-Content Industry Council (hereinafter the Council) will hold the 'K-Culture 400 Trillion Won & K-Content 220 Trillion Won Vision Proclamation Ceremony' at 10:30 a.m. on the 15th at the Grand Conference Room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building. This event is hosted by Lee Jae-jung, Chairman of the National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, organized by the Council, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This event is very significant in that the content industry, which has previously voiced its opinions individually—including games, popular music, movies, dramas, webtoons, publishing, and animation—has united as "one industry" for the first time to present a unified policy direction.
In particular, 11 major associations and organizations have broken down genre boundaries and stepped forward to take joint action to address challenges that all genres commonly face, such as copyright, production cost financing, and manpower issues, amidst the digital and AI transition and intensifying global competition.
On this day, the council will announce targets for four key indicators, including achieving 220 trillion won in content industry revenue by 2030, as well as exports, jobs, and the number of companies. This is a large-scale vision that exceeds half of the government's national agenda of "K-Culture 400 trillion won." On the day of the event, joint policy tasks encompassing taxation, finance, and laws and regulations, along with the basis for calculations by sector, will also be unveiled.
Prior to the vision proclamation ceremony, a founding general meeting will be held on the morning of the same day, which will also serve as the official launch ceremony of the council. The council, which has been operating as an informal group since its inception last May, is set to be reborn as a formal organization by adopting its articles of association and electing co-representatives.
Currently, 11 major organizations, including the Korean Publishers Association, the Korea Game Industry Association, the Korea Popular Music Performing Arts Industry Association, the Korea Popular Music Industry Association, the Korea Drama Producers Association, the Korea Mobile Game Association, the Korea Animation Industry Association, the Korean Film Producers Association, the Korean Film Producers Guild, the Korea Webtoon Industry Association, and the Korea Music Label Industry Association, are joining forces in the council.
