What is so special about the Hansung double-sided potato peeler? From the story of a Russian ex-girlfriend to price and purchase information.
2026.10.26 11:39
The Hansung double-sided potato peeler requested by my Russian ex-girlfriend who contacted me after 6 years! I’ve compiled everything from the story behind it, the domestic manufacturer, the price in the 1,000 won range, shipping fees, and buying tips.
Have you seen the 'ex-girlfriend potato peeler' stories on social media lately? 😂
My Russian ex-girlfriend, who hadn't been in touch for six years, suddenly reached out... and asked me to send her a potato peeler.
They said they initially thought it was a new type of scam, but it turned out it was really just because of a potato peeler 🥔
I’m going to dig into the true identity of the 'Hansung Double-Sided Potato Peeler,' the one you were so determined to get that you were willing to spend nearly 60,000 won just on shipping! ✨
1. Russian ex-girlfriend potato peeler, what's the story? 😭
What became a hot topic was a review of a shopping mall.
The author received unexpected contact after 6 years from an ex-girlfriend he met while living in Russia. They said they received it.
To summarize the story, it goes like this.
My ex-girlfriend's 'favorite potato peeler' that she bought during a trip to Sakhalin about 20 years ago broke.
I searched every shopping mall in the world to buy the exact same thing, but there was nowhere selling it.
Just as I was about to give up, I discovered a few Korean characters written on the potato peeler.
I found it for sale on a Korean site, so I asked the author.
The author thought it was made in China and tried to provide a link to buy it from a place like Taobao.
I looked it up and apparently it's made in Korea and sold only in Korea 💡
My ex-girlfriend said that it was "the best potato peeler of my life, the best product made in Korea," and that she wanted to use only this for the rest of her life.
The writer themselves said it was awkward to write a review since they had never actually used it, and even left a joke saying, "It's not even ex-boyfriend toast, but an ex-girlfriend potato peeler?" 😂
2. What does the Hansung double-sided potato peeler look like?
As the name suggests, it has a blade at each end of the handle.
Handle: Red plastic, with a hanging hole in the center
One end: Y-shaped peeler blade for thinly peeling skin
Opposite end: Perforated stainless steel slicer plate
The key is that the entire process—peeling, flipping it over while still in your hand, and slicing it immediately—is completed in a single bag ✨
Depending on the seller, it was also listed under names like 'vegetable knife', 'fruit knife', 'multi-purpose peeler', and 'potato peeler'.
3. It's not from Russia, it's made in Korea! 🇰🇷
You might be confused because 'Russia' is attached.
If you look at the product information on the sales page, the manufacturer is listed as 'Hansung Cooking System' and the country of origin as 'Made in Korea'.
When searching, it is more accurate to look for 'Hansung Double-sided Potato Peeler' rather than its nickname.
Since other similar-looking products are mixed in, be sure to compare the manufacturer's label and the shape of both blades 💡
4. How much is it? The shipping fee is the real trap.
The price in the review was 1,100 won, but now it varies slightly depending on the seller.
| division | Product price | delivery fee | When ordering 1 item |
| Sales Outlet A | 1,200 won | 3,000 won | 4,200 won |
| Sales Outlet B | 1,900 won | 3,000 won | 4,900 won |
※ As of October 26, 2026, prices and stock are subject to change.
The shipping fee is more expensive than the potato peeler itself, so it's better to compare the final payment amount 😭
If you need kitchenware, looking for bundled shipping is a good idea.
Coupang also sells the 'Yedam Hansung Double-sided Potato Peeler' with the same double-sided structure, so you can choose by comparing reviews and delivery conditions.
5. It is a good fit for these people
A home cook who frequently peels potatoes, carrots, and cucumbers
Someone who frequently makes side dishes that involve slicing ingredients, such as stir-fried shredded potatoes, raw radish salad, and carrot slices.
For those who find it bothersome to take out the peeler and slicer separately
However, please check the detailed image first to see if the thickness of the shredded vegetables matches the dish you want to make.
If you are preparing a large amount at once, a large-capacity slicer might be more convenient.
6. Points to note when using ⚠️
Since there are blades on both sides, hold the middle of the handle and be careful not to touch the blade on the unused side.
If the ingredients become too short, it is safer to leave some of them intact rather than forcing yourself to grind them all the way to the end.
When cleaning, wipe away any debris between the holes with a brush, dry it thoroughly, and then hang it on the hook for storage.
Please check the product guide first regarding dishwasher usage.
