Movie "Final Interview" Review and Ending Spoilers! What's Different from the Original? Cookie

Review of the movie 'Final Interview'! I’ll summarize everything for you, from the nail-biting plot and ending spoilers to the differences from the original novel 'Six Liars' and even whether or not there is a post-credits scene.

1. Why fight when you beat 5,000 to 1? Basic plot and intense tension

Six young people gathered at the final interview venue of a major corporation. They made it this far after overcoming an insane competition rate of a whopping 5,000 to 1. At first... Let's build warm and strong teamwork with the mindset of, "Let's do well on our group project and get hired together!"

However, on the day of the interview, the company drops an absurd bombshell: "With a time limit of two hours and a total of five rounds of voting, you must select only one final candidate with your own hands."

A colleague in an instant A situation where they have become enemies trying to take my place. To make matters worse, mysterious envelopes with the names of six applicants are discovered at the interview room. . Inside, there is a complaint containing the applicants' dark pasts and secrets they wanted to hide.

As the envelopes are opened one by one "Were you the kind of person you were, the one smiling just yesterday?" The room was filled with suspicion and a sense of betrayal, and the suffocating tension characteristic of a locked-room thriller was conveyed right out of the screen, keeping my palms sweating the entire time.

2. A series of twists and turns! Movie Final Interview ending spoiler

※ From here on, there are major spoilers, so please scroll down quickly if you do not want to see them!

As the interviews progressed, mutual accusations and revelations reached their peak. Eventually, the arrow of suspicion falls on one person. Just like the main plot of the original novel, a character appears in this round who volunteers to be a scapegoat, taking another colleague's secret envelope and leaving the interview room, and the final nominee is decided to be someone else.

However, the real shock comes after that. The true culprit who orchestrated the incident was someone else entirely.

Like Sota Kuga from the original novel, he was a character who became deeply disillusioned with the distorted hiring system and society after his exceptionally talented best friend was eliminated for incomprehensible reasons. I intended to expose the hypocrisy of companies that evaluate people based on a few minutes of interviews and a single line on a resume, and to reveal the ugly true nature of the applicants.

But what is even more chilling is that even the real culprit hastily judged and misunderstood others.

I branded the other person a hypocrite based on a single fragmentary photograph or sentence, but in reality, a completely different, warm context was hidden within. Furthermore, in the latter part of the film, it is revealed that even the character who appeared to be a scapegoat was not a flawless good person, but a complex human being in whom the desire to take another's place coexisted with a sense of injustice, raising a weighty question mark.

3. Differences between the original book *Six Liars* and the movie

Although it is based on Akinari Asakura's bestselling novel, it became much deeper emotionally when adapted into a Korean movie.

Changes in voting time and breathing: Compared to the tight pacing of the original work or the Japanese film version, the voting time was extended to 30 minutes, logically heightening the clash of emotions. The psychological battles, which take place five times over two hours, are much more intricate.

Realism Tailored to Korean Society: By adding the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the story was modified to allow the audience to more viscerally feel the emotions of disconnection and distrust. The perpetrator's motive expands beyond simple revenge stemming from an individual's inferiority complex to encompass structural issues such as unemployment and societal hatred, significantly enhancing the audience's immersion.

Addition of romance and emotional storylines: Compared to the original work, the emotional density between the characters is higher, and a subtle romantic lingering feeling is added, leaving a much deeper sense of bitterness and lingering emotion at the end.
