Kimbap and Jajangmyeon are back again

It was found that among the eight representative restaurant menus in Seoul, the average price of five items, including kimbap, jajangmyeon, kalguksu, naengmyeon, and kimchi stew, increased compared to last month.

According to the 'True Price', a comprehensive price information portal of the Korea Consumer Agency, the price of kimbap among the eight most popular restaurant menus among consumers in Seoul last month rose from 3,323 won to 3,362 won. It is a 15.6% increase from two years ago and a 7.7% increase from a year ago.

The Consumer Agency analyzed that the average prices of kimbap ingredients such as dried seaweed, fish roe, spinach, sesame oil, canned tuna, and cheese from January to March this year increased by a minimum of 0.5% and a maximum of 18.1% compared to the annual price last year. The price of 10 sheets of dried seaweed increased by 18.1% from 1,040 won last year to 1,228 won this year, a bundle of spinach increased by 9.5% from 3,739 won to 4,094 won, and fish roe (100g) increased by 4.6% from 934 won to 977 won.

The price of jajangmyeon in Seoul increased from 7,069 won in March to 7,146 won in April. The price of a bowl of kalguksu increased from 9,115 won to 9,154 won during the same period, and the price of naengmyeon increased from 11,538 won to 11,692 won, and is expected to surpass 12,000 won.

The prices of pork belly and bibimbap were the same in March and April, at 19,981 won and 17,690 won, respectively. Samgyetang fell from 16,923 won to 16,885 won.
