Increased demand for blood sugar management due to spread of wellness

According to the food industry on the 8th, sales of convenience foods and ingredients related to the slow-aging diet have continued to increase this year.

In particular, 'slow-aging rice' is hot in popularity. Slow-aging rice is rice mixed with chickpeas or konjac rice, and has the advantage of allowing relatively low carbohydrate intake. According to CJ CheilJedang, the company's instant rice 'Haetban Konjac Rice' recorded an average monthly sales growth rate (compared to the previous month) of 23.5% this year (January to May).

Reflecting the same popularity, CJ CheilJedang diversified its related products in March of this year by launching 'Chickpea Quinoa Konjac Rice and Lentil Quinoa Konjac Rice', which combine konjac and various whole grains in the optimal ratio. There is an interpretation that the slow-aging diet is receiving attention as the number of chronic disease patients (high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity) in their 20s and 30s is rapidly increasing due to the influence of Westernized eating habits. In fact, the slow-aging diet is known to be effective in preventing chronic diseases by reducing 'blood sugar spikes' (rapid rises in blood sugar levels after meals) as well as preventing physical aging through changes in eating habits.
