[All] Jeon Cheong-jo, additional charges of extorting 200 million won from 4 men she met on a dating app

The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office's 2nd Criminal Division (Chief Prosecutor Song Young-in) announced on the 3rd that it had additionally indicted Jeon Cheong-jo (28) on charges of fraud worth 300 million won for committing investment fraud worth tens of billions of won by impersonating a third-generation chaebol.

According to the prosecution and others, Mr. Jeon was arrested and indicted on charges of embezzling approximately 3 billion won in the name of investment funds from 27 people he met while giving lectures and other activities from 2022 to last year. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison in the first trial in February and is currently on appeal.

The prosecution continued the investigation even after the indictment and brought him to trial for additional charges of embezzling approximately 125 million won from three people under the pretext of investing in unlisted stocks. They also added charges of extorting approximately 233 million won from four men she met through a dating app, pretending to be female equestrians and asking them to borrow money for things like competition fees while promising marriage or dating.

In addition, Mr. Jeon was also indicted on charges of defamation for falsely claiming to be the mentor of a specific YouTuber in order to act as an investment expert and making false statements that he could influence whether or not the YouTuber would hold a lecture.
