New Jeans, "Time to Recharge" During Break Amid Plagiarism and Min Hee-jin Member Stealing Controversy

New Jeans were also embroiled in allegations that their pre-released song "Bubblegum" released in May plagiarized the British band Shaka Tak's "Easy, Sad Then Done."

In June, Shaka Tak hired a domestic law firm and sent a certified letter to Adore demanding, “Stop using ‘Bubble Gum’ and pay damages.” In return, Adore stated, “‘Bubble Gum’ did not use Shaka Tak’s composition without permission. We requested a credible analysis report on this.”

When the position that "the party who raised the issue should send a report proving plagiarism" caused controversy, Adore once again stated their position on the 23rd, saying, "The two songs are different in terms of chord progression, BPM, and the overall mood and flow of the songs," and "It is difficult to argue that the melody development was only used characteristically in 'Easy, Sad Then Dun'" and denied plagiarism.
