New Jeans, the first winner of the year?

The group New Jeans won the first grand prize of the year at the '2024 Korea Grand Music Awards'.

NewJeans lifted the 'Grand Artist' trophy, the highest honor, at the '2024 Korea Grand Music Awards (hereafter referred to as 'KGMA')' held at Inspire Arena in Unseo-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City on the 16th. In addition, they were also selected as the 'Best Artist', which is the main prize, and won two awards at the 'KGMA'.

On this day, New Jeans heated up the awards ceremony scene with an overwhelming performance. They performed all four songs released this year, including 'Right Now', 'Bubblegum', 'How Sweet', and 'Supernatural'. In particular, they added a freshness to 'Bubblegum' by adding a band sound, and they thrilled the viewers by adding a new dance break section to the 'Supernatural' performance.

Meanwhile, New Jeans has been very active in Korea and Japan this year with their double single "How Sweet" and their Japanese debut single "Supernatural." Not only the two albums and their eponymous title songs, but most of the songs on the album and their previous works have been consistently popular on major music streaming sites both domestically and internationally.

Album sales are also remarkable. According to the Circle Chart for October, 'How Sweet' sold over 1.2 million copies, and 'Supernatural' sold over 1.26 million copies. New Jeans, who entered Tokyo Dome in the shortest period of time (1 year and 11 months) as a foreign artist and mobilized over 91,200 people in two days, has sold over 8.03 million copies of all albums released so far.
