Seoul is dead

Taehyung said he ran to escape the monster, placing his hand on the hallway wall. Apparently, blood got on his hand at that time. Even though he hadn't been on the wall for very long, if his hand was stained red, it must have been quite a lot of blood. Jungkook gritted his teeth the whole time he listened to Taehyung. "Taehyung, let's go. We don't have time to lose." Jungkook opened the door he had closed to save himself.

I held my breath and walked down the hallway, trying to minimize the sound of my footsteps. The students in Class 6-3, who were closest to the stairs, had been terribly torn apart by the monster that had chased Taehyung and Jungkook earlier. If Taehyung and Jungkook hadn't gone through the door toward the stairs, these students might still be alive. Jungkook realized that they were the ones who had screamed right in front of him when he had closed and locked the door earlier.

“Jungkook, it seems like all the girls in class 6 are dead..?
no way··· We ran this way earlier
Those monsters didn't find the kids from Class 6, did they?

“That’s not it, so stop talking nonsense and go find Kim Joo-yeon.”

Jungkook already knew it was their fault, so his heart felt like it was beating four times faster than usual. But if he were to be honest with the delicate Taehyung, he'd picture a future where he'd kneel and apologize to every single one of the dead Class 6 kids, so he didn't bother telling him the truth.

As they passed Class 6 and were heading toward Class 7, a sudden explosion was heard from a milk factory about four kilometers away. Startled, Taehyung and Jungkook returned to Class 6 and hid under the teacher's desk. Although the area was littered with corpses, they had confirmed with their own eyes that there were no monsters, so this was the best option.

A swarm of monsters swarmed from somewhere, smashing through the school's window frames and pouring down. They seemed to have followed the roaring noise just heard from the milk factory. If they hadn't been hiding in Class 6, they would have certainly been torn to pieces.

Jungkook, who had been catching his breath under the desk, suddenly stood up and opened the window. He scanned the playground and saw a swarm of monsters rushing toward the factory. The sheer number—well over a hundred—left him speechless. Among those hundreds were a number of students in uniform. The moment he turned to tell Taehyung,

"Hey there, please... help me."

A female student's voice was heard outside the window. A chill ran down Jungkook's spine, and he slumped down. "There, on the railing... it looks like someone is there..." Taehyung said, pointing to a dim shadow reflected on the window. When he fully opened the blinds, he saw a female student barely clinging to the railing. Taehyung reached out and helped her safely into the classroom.

“How long have you been there? And your name is M.”

“Thanks for helping me, but don’t talk to me.”

Not only did she cut off the person who helped her, she also told her not to talk to him anymore... The female student, who seemed to be no ordinary brat, was in a very twisted mood. She fiercely attacked Jeon Jungkook and Kim Taehyung, muttering, "Murderers."

"What did you just say? To the person who helped you, a murderer?"

“Why? No? You killed the kids in our class, right?
"You two ran away and brought those strange things towards our class, and they all died. You were the ones who sacrificed those kids who were quietly trembling in silence in your place. If that's not murder, then what is?"

The female student, who had been screaming at the top of her lungs, her veins bulging, without blinking, finally burst into tears. She recalled the scene where two monsters had suddenly barged into her classroom, tearing and tearing at the throats of every student. She rubbed her reddened eyes with her blood-soaked sleeve, glared at Jungkook and Taehyung once more, and then left the classroom.

Taehyung was quite shocked by the girl's words. The thought of all the corpses, which must have been at least thirty, being his fault was heartbreaking. Taehyung approached the nearest body and knelt down. Jungkook let out a hollow laugh at the situation, which coincided precisely with the future he'd predicted earlier.

"Taehyung, wake up. I have to go find Jooyeon.
"If you keep going like this, are you going to lose Jooyeon too?"

Taehyung reacted immediately to the word 'lead role' and quickly wiped away the tears streaming down his cheeks. 'I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. I'm so sorry.' He continued muttering until the moment he left the classroom.

Jungkook and Taehyung headed to Class 9, the protagonist's classroom. Fortunately, they were able to arrive at Class 9 without any problems, as the monsters were nowhere to be seen, perhaps due to the loud noise from the factory earlier. Classes 9 and 10 were in completely different buildings, so the classroom doors were intact, perhaps because the monsters couldn't get in.

"Jooyeon!!!!!!"

When I opened the door, I saw female students covering their mouths and trembling with anxiety. The creature had only entered Building 1, which was used by third-year boys, some third-year girls, and second-year students. Only a few creatures had entered the school itself to begin with, and the door to Building 2 was in a rather secluded location, so they likely hadn't been able to find it.

As soon as Taehyung saw Jooyeon, who looked so fine on the outside, he ran to her and hugged her. Judging by the tear stains on her cheeks, she seemed to have been feeling anxious for quite some time.

Kim Taehyung, Kim Jooyeon

"Now is not the time to be hugging each other. We don't know when we'll be back. Let's... go to school."
