Seoul is dead

"We have to take the other living children out too."

Currently, Taehyung, Jungkook, Jooyeon, and the female students of Class 9 are on the third floor of Building 2. Because the school is divided into three buildings, Buildings 1, 2, and 3 are all separated, so it was not easy to check whether the students in other buildings were alive or dead.

"T..Taehyung, let's go home quickly. Okay? You'll take me, right?"

Jooyeon barely managed to spit out a trembling voice and grabbed Taehyung's shoulder. Pain shot through Taehyung's shoulder, perhaps because he had slammed it into the corner of the hallway while running away. "J,Jooyeon, calm down... I think we should find the other survivors first..." Taehyung and Jungkook exchanged glances and conveyed the same thought to each other.

"Jooyeon, we're going to Hall 3 now. Just wait a little longer until we get back. We'll bring the other friends."

Jungkook tried to calm Jooyeon down and speak to her, but Jooyeon held Taehyung's shoulder even tighter and raised her voice, begging him not to leave her side even for a moment. She wanted him to stay by her side so that she would be safe from the monsters that could come back at any time, and so that she wouldn't get killed.

But Jeongguk's thinking was correct. Leaving the school would be more efficient in creating more survivors, and to achieve this, he needed to go find the students immediately.

"Kim Joo-yeon, stop talking like a child. I'll come back to get you, so wait here."

Jungkook slapped Juyeon's hand off Taehyung's shoulder and resolutely left Class 9. Taehyung couldn't hide his complex expression and couldn't take a step forward. "Jungkook... Juyeon is scared too. Don't talk to her like that." The resentful gaze he'd seen Juyeon give him just before leaving class lingered in Taehyung's mind.

Jeongguk, by nature cool and composed, couldn't understand Taehyung's overly emotional nature. "Kim Jooyeon, that guy was so selfish just now. Let's stop thinking about it and get to Building 3 quickly." Jeongguk quickened his pace.

Taehyung and Jeongguk arrived at Building 3, their faces visibly dented. Not a single student or teacher was there. If they had been attacked by monsters, the corpses of the first-year students occupying Building 3 would have covered the entire building. But surprisingly, not a single body, not even a single strand of hair, was visible.

“What, have they all already escaped from school?”

"Otherwise, there'd be no one there. Let's go to Building 1. I need to check on the kids in our class and the second-year students."

Jungkook and Taehyung left Building 3 and headed toward Building 1. They thought they'd heard a strange noise along the way, but there was no time to delay, so they couldn't stop. "The second-year classrooms are on the second floor, right?" Jungkook climbed the stairs to the second floor and opened the door, only to be knocked unconscious. The hallway floor and walls were covered in bloody footprints and handprints, and tattered corpses strewn everywhere formed a red carpet.

If the third-year class 6 students on the third floor were found en masse covered in blood, the second-year students on the second floor were in a state of complete devastation. This horrific sight sent a wave of nausea through Jeongguk. The sickening smell of blood and the sight of half-severed heads overwhelmed him.

While Jungkook was stuck on the second floor, Taehyung went up to the fourth floor. This was the third-year boys' floor, including Jungkook and Taehyung's class. When he opened the door to the fourth floor, Taehyung's eyes, swaying aimlessly, were filled with the worst-case scenarios he'd ever imagined.

The faces of his friends, stained with blood, the damp hallway littered with limbs, the marks of people trampling and crushing each other in their attempts to escape. Taehyung faced Jinsoo, his closest classmate after Jungkook, and the tears he'd barely held back fell. Jinsoo's appearance, half his neck severed, was chillingly horrifying, and his eyes, unable to close completely, were still filled with fear.

It wasn't just Taehyung. The entire third-year boys' class on the fourth floor felt the same way. Seeing hundreds of corpses in a single day, or even less than an hour, left Taehyung speechless. His eyes had long since lost focus, and he couldn't even think clearly.

“Kyaaak-“

If only there hadn't been a scream from downstairs.
