BTS “Malicious Commenters Fined… Lawsuit Against De-fandom Camp Continues”

Big Hit Music, BTS' agency, has taken a strong stance against violations of artist rights.

Today (the 27th), Big Hit Music announced through the official fan community Weverse that they are taking regular legal action against those who write malicious posts about BTS, and that a number of suspects have recently been fined.

According to this announcement, suspects who were sent to the prosecution for writing malicious posts were sentenced to a fine of up to 5 million won. In particular, defendants who wrote malicious posts despite their past punishment history were included. Big Hit Music stated a strong stance, saying, “We will hold them accountable to the end so that even suspects who have not completed the investigation and legal procedures can be severely punished.”

Big Hit Music also said that they are currently in the process of filing a lawsuit for damages against the detention center for fans who have left the group, as well as civil and criminal lawsuits related to the leak of personal information and stalking of artists. They made it clear that they will “take legal action without any compromise or leniency against those who have violated the rights of artists.”

Big Hit Music continued, “This quarter as well, we collected evidence of malicious posts on multiple platforms including DC Inside, Nate Pan, Instiz, Ilganbest, and Theqoo through reports from fans and our own monitoring, and submitted a complaint to the investigative authorities,” emphasizing, “We are especially actively responding to malicious posts about members who are currently serving their military duties.”
