Actress Kim Ji-yeon revealed her thoughts on acting in a romantic relationship with actor Yook Sung-jae, her best friend of 16 years, in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Return to Palace'.

Kim Ji-yeon met with Daily Sports in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 9th and said, “In fact, since we were friends who trained together, we didn’t really see each other working together. We didn’t see each other on set either,” and “When I looked up his works for this project, he was really good. He was definitely my ‘senior.’ I tried to learn a lot from him.”

When asked if he felt awkward acting in a romantic relationship, he laughed and said, “It wasn’t that much, but it was awkward to look into each other’s eyes for a long time. Since the scenes where we look into each other’s eyes are usually long, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s what it was like.’” He also laughed about the kissing scene and said, “It was so cold when we were filming that scene, so I was left with regrets.”

While saying this, she said, “It was so comfortable and nice. While filming, they would tell me things like, ‘What should I do?’ and that helped me a lot,” and added, “When I’m filming and concentrating, there are times when I don’t pay attention to my face. But instead, Sungjae and the director adjusted the angles so that I could look prettier. They said, ‘It’s not because of you, it’s for our drama.’” and made people laugh.

Kim Ji-yeon said that when people around her asked her, "Aren't you two dating?", she laughed and said, "If nothing had happened in the past 16 years, then that wouldn't have happened, right?"

'Gwigung' started off with 9.2% (Nielsen Korea nationwide) in April and continued to rise in viewership ratings, ending on the 7th with its highest ever rating of 11.0%.

'Gwigung' is a fantasy romantic comedy about a shaman named Yeo-ri who rejects the fate of a shaman, and Kang Cheol-i, an imoogi trapped in the body of Yeo-ri's first love, Yoon Gap, who face the eight-faced ghost who holds a grudge against the royal family, and their bodies and souls become tightly entangled. In the drama, Kim Ji-yeon plays Yeo-ri, the only granddaughter of a famous manshin and an artisan of glasses.

Kim Ji-yeon once again proved her solid acting skills with 'Gwigung'. She showed off her wide spectrum of acting by skillfully playing everything from a shaman to a serious melodrama to a cheerful romantic comedy.
