MONSTA X Shares Stories Behind the Making of THE PHASE

I read what MONSTA X shared about their team's unique style and new endeavors while preparing for their mini-album, THE PHASE. Shownu mentioned that rather than focusing solely on the strong image they had previously shown, they wanted to pique curiosity by using concise yet distinctive elements. I was impressed by their statement that they tried to show their next direction while maintaining a familiar look.

Minhyuk also shared that he wanted to slightly change the image that comes to mind when thinking of the name Monsta X. He explained that rather than showing a completely different side, he wanted to show another facet that people can look forward to in the future. Looking at the album concept photos, the dark space and the members' gazes blend together, making me curious about what kind of music is included.

The stories from the members who worked on the tracks were also interesting. Jooheon said that while creating "SURVIVOR" and "Electric Heart," he agonized over how to incorporate current elements while maintaining the team's unique color. Hyungwon said that for "Sweet Night" and "Sweet Morning," he spent a long time thinking about how the members would sing and the atmosphere that suited the songs.

Kihyun said that the experience of exploring their respective music through solo and unit activities led back to team activities. It is heartening to see the process of combining their individual strengths to create a new album after spending time apart. Hyungwon’s comment that the members, having been together for a long time, understand each other’s styles and naturally work well together also remains in my memory.
