Hee-joo's transformation was also a key element of episodes 7 and 8. She jumped into a barn to save Woo-gi (Kim Sung-chul), who was bound limb by limb and pushed to the brink of death, and even personally orchestrated Do-kyung's (Lee Hyun-wook) illegal emigration. As her childhood memories with Woo-gi intersected with her present, the episode highlighted Hee-joo's growing ruthlessness in her struggle to survive.
