Night time was slowly approaching as street lights lit up one by one outside the building. The three girls, reunited in full as Younha arrived, were laughing and giggling while exchanging stories from holiday. As usual, they never seemed to lack topics to talk about and they transitioned from one topic to another so seamlessly. Before long, it was almost dinner time.
"I have some groceries in the fridge, do you guys wanna make something simple or you prefer ordering?" Soyi offered.
"Ordering takes long. Let's just cook something easy" Mihee said looking at her two best friends.
"I woul-" Younha was interrupted by a loud knock on the door.
Soyi looked Mihee and Younha in confusion as she head to the door.
"Delivery for Kang Mihee." the delivery guy greeted her as he held out a bag of food for her to take.
Looking back and forth between Mihee and the delivery guy, Soyi accepted the bag and muttered a thank you as he bowed slightly and left.
Mihee's phone rang.
"Baby, did you get the food? Please enjoy-" Hongjoong's voice came through and was cut off by Younha.
"JOONG!!! THANK YOU FOR DINNER!" she shouted from across the table, startling everyone.
"Baby, I am so sorry she's that loud. Yes, it just arrived. You didn't have to" Mihee smiled as if the other person could see it.
They spoke for a little longer while Soyi and Younha prepared the food on the table.
"Well, Kang Mihee, just marry Kim Hongjoong already" Younha said as soon as the phonecall ended.
Blushing, Mihee playfully swatted her best friend's hand.
The girls decided to eat while watching something on TV. There was some comedy show on one of the channels and they settled on that while enjoying the few cans of beers that came together with their dinner.
Midway, Soyi's phone beeped. Younha, being the closest to it, grabbed it to pass to the owner. Upon seeing the name on the screen, she shrieked.
"Song Soyi! When did you see Jung Wooyoung?"
Soyi was caught off guard. Redness crept to her face as both friends were looking at her with expectatant stare.
"Uhm, today. I-I- we had coffee after my mentoring session" she stuttered.
"And you didn't think of telling us?" asked Mihee.
"Did you tell him?" Younha handed Soyi her phone
"I didn't. I was scared. What if he stops talking to me after?" Soyi slumped on her chair.
"But it's been a whole semester, hun. Do you even have a class together this semester?" Younha has her attention fully on Soyi now.
Mihee also looked at her expecting an answer.
"Sadly no." Soyi sighed in defeat.
Her two friend continued their strings of question about Jung Wooyoung. They had known from the beginning about that crush of hers. They had also, in multiple occasions, urged her to confess which she had seriously considered doing at one point before she got closer to him after a group project. After hanging out with him a few times, they had bonded well and Wooyoung had been telling her that he was really happy to have her as a friend.
Since then, whenever Soyi made up her mind to confess, she would change her mind upon meeting the boy. That's how the semester ended without her confessing.
"I think you should tell him. If he likes you too, then happy ending. If he doesn't, you could move on. I know it's hard, but don't you think it's harder if you keep seeing him pretending you don't want more?" Mihee advised.
"What if he doesn't want to hang out with me anymore? Do you think he will avoid me after?" Soyi played with the edge of her pajama as she spoke.
Younha took a deep breath before responding to her friend.
"You're beautiful, smart and amazing. If he fails to see that, it's his lost. I see no reason for you to worry. Also, if he doesn't feel the same way, at least you're not wasting your time waiting for uncertainty".
After another hour of talk, the girls eventually set the bed and got ready to sleep. Once done with their nightly routine, they tried to catch some sleep. Soyi was still awake for sometime. She did reply to Wooyoung who was asking her if she had arrived home. Her friends words kept playing in her mind as she thought of her feelings till sleep eventually took over.
