You had always known Jungwon as the popular guy who always got what he wanted. He was tall, with broad shoulders and a chiseled jawline that made all the girls swoon. He had a head full of thick, dark hair that he always styled just right, and piercing eyes that seemed to see right through you. He was the captain of the taekwondo team, and didn't have a huge group of friends, even though he was always surrounded by adoring fans. You, on the other hand, were the quiet girl who preferred to keep to herself. You had a small trio of friends, but mostly kept your head down and focused on your studies (when you had nothing to do, that is).

It all started in your sophomore year of high school. You and Jungwon had been paired up for a group project in English class. You were not happy about it, but you tried to keep an open mind. However, it quickly became clear that Jungwon was not interested in working with you. He ignored your suggestions and did everything his way. You tried to speak up, but he brushed you off.
As the project progressed, you found yourself getting more and more frustrated with Jungwon. He was arrogant and dismissive, and you couldn't stand the way he acted like he was so much better than everyone else. You started to avoid him as much as possible and tried to get through the project on your own.
But despite your best efforts, you couldn't help but notice how good-looking he was. His skin was smooth and flawless, and his lips were full and inviting. You tried to push those thoughts aside, reminding yourself of how much he annoyed you. But no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't deny the attraction you felt towards him.
As the weeks went on, you found yourself thinking about Jungwon more and more. You started to pay attention to him during basketball games, watching as he moved across the court with effortless grace. You even found yourself daydreaming about him during class, imagining what it would be like if he actually paid attention to you.
It wasn't until the day of the presentation that things started to change. You had rehearsed your part of the project over and over again, determined to make it perfect. But when it was time to present, you froze. You couldn't remember anything you had prepared, and you stumbled over your words.
Jungwon stepped in and saved the presentation, smoothly picking up where you left off. You were grateful, but also annoyed that he had made you look bad in the first place.
As you watched him speak, you couldn't help but feel a strange sense of admiration. He was so confident and self-assured, and the way he spoke was captivating.
After the presentation was over, you found yourself alone in the classroom with Jungwon. He looked at you, his eyes softening for a moment before he spoke.
"Look, I know we haven't exactly gotten along during this project, but I just wanted to say that I think you did a great job. I'm sorry if I made things difficult for you, I just get really focused sometimes."
You were surprised by his words, but also grateful for the apology. You smiled at him, feeling a warmth in your chest that you couldn't quite explain.
"Thanks, Jungwon. That means a lot coming from you."
He smiled back, and for a moment, you felt like there was something more between you. But then he turned to leave, and the moment was over.
The rest of the school year passed by in a blur. You and Jungwon still didn't interact much, but there were moments where you caught him looking at you, his gaze intense and focused. You started to realize that maybe there was something there, something that went beyond the annoyance and frustration you had felt towards him.
It wasn't until the end of the year that things finally came to a head. You were at the school dance, dressed in a pretty dress that made you feel confident and beautiful. You were standing on the sidelines, watching as Jungwon danced with another girl. You felt a pang of jealousy, but tried to ignore it.
But then, out of nowhere, Jungwon approached you. He was sweating from dancing, but he still looked impossibly handsome.
"Hey, Y/N. Do you want to dance?"
You hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But then you nodded, and he took your hand, leading you out onto the dance floor.
As you danced, you felt a rush of emotions. You were angry at him for the way he had treated you, but also grateful for the way he made you feel. You were confused about what was happening between you, but also thrilled at the prospect of something more.
And then, as the song ended, Jungwon leaned in and kissed you. It was soft and gentle at first, but quickly grew more passionate. You melted into his arms, feeling like you were finally where you were meant to be- in his embrace.
When the kiss ended, you pulled away, looking up at him with surprise and confusion.
"What was that?" you asked, still trying to process what had just happened.
Jungwon looked at you, his eyes intense and serious.
"I know we haven't exactly been on the best of terms, but I can't help the way I feel about you. I know it's crazy, but I think I'm in love with you, Y/N."
You were taken aback by his confession, but also felt a flutter of excitement in your chest. You had never expected Jungwon, the popular guy who could have anyone he wanted, to be interested in you.
But as you looked into his eyes, you saw a sincerity and vulnerability that you had never seen before. You realized that maybe there was something more to him than just the arrogant jock you had always thought he was.
"I don't know what to say, Jungwon," you said softly.
He took your hand, looking at you with a mix of hope and fear.
"Say that you'll give me a chance. That you'll let me show you what I really feel for you."
You looked at him for a long moment, considering his words. And then, finally, you nodded.
"Okay. I'll give you a chance."
Jungwon's face broke into a smile, and he pulled you into another kiss. This time, it was full of passion and promise, and you knew that you were embarking on a new journey with him.
As the night wore on and the dance came to an end, you walked out of the school hands interlocked with Jungwon. You didn't know what the future held, but for the first time -in a long time- you felt excited about the possibilities.

A/N:
Sorry if this was cringey- as I said before, I've never posted a oneshot (❍ᴥ❍ʋ)
I'll be happy to take requests but that doesn't mean that I'll always finish it quickly; it thoroughly depends on my schedule as well as motivation.
Either way, I hope you enjoyed reading this ❥
