"I love it when strangers smile at me and I smile back, and we have that nice stranger smiling moment."
I'm the type of person who, no matter how stressed I am in life, as long as I meet someone smiling, my thoughts of my problems immediately disappear.
With each passing day, I meet more people. All of us, I mean. Somehow, the people we meet, sit next to, and talk to, we still feel comfortable with even though we don't know them. Isn't it ironic?
By the way, I'm Sharlene. I'm 22 years old, living alone in Manila.
Half-korean ako, and my parents are handling their businesses here in the Philippines and outside the country specially in Korea.
That's just it, most of the time Mom and Dad are always on business trips. That's why, I'm all alone at my house.
At this moment, I'm watching a kdrama. Watching Koreanovela is my stress reliever. This is what I always do after my work at the company. I don't want to be depressed. Maybe, if I get sad again, I'll just commit suicide.
It's just a chore! I don't want to get to that point! That's why I just entertain myself when I feel sad.
While I was watching, I was waiting for the food I had delivered for dinner to arrive.
I looked at the clock, it was 7 pm. Then just a few moments later I heard the doorbell ring.
Because I was so hungry, I immediately headed for the door.
SHARLENE: "In fairness, the delivery was fast." I said while opening my door.
When I opened the door, I was suddenly stunned.
Do you know why?
Kyaahh! OMEGAWD! Their delivery boy is so handsome! You know that? That guy, it's like you've seen an oppa!
But I don't care if he's handsome. Because my food is more important!
SHARLENE: "Ah- Hi! Can I take you now, eh, I mean, can I take my order now?" I said, seemingly losing my sanity.
He didn't respond. In fact, he was just staring at me. Then I noticed something about kuyang pogi when I looked at his appearance.
SHARLENE: "Wait! Where's my order? Also, why aren't you in your delivery boy uniform?" I asked nervously.
The nervousness I was feeling intensified when he still didn't answer my question and still didn't take his gaze off me.
Until he suddenly moved and slowly approached me. With every step he took, I moved away until we finally reached the very heart of my house.
I was looking for something that I could use as self-defense but I couldn't find anything around me. I wanted to run but my knees were weak and my mind was too busy with nervousness.
SHARLENE: "Who are you! W-what do you need?" I stammered.
He didn't speak again. He stared at me almost without blinking.
