Here are the major annual music awards ceremony in S. Korea, where Rookie Award / Rookie of the Year Award(sininsang) is given to the best new artists.
1. Golden Disc Awards – January
- Considered to be the most prestigious and largest music awards ceremony in Korea.
- Known as the Korean Grammy Awards.
- Held for 2 days. The first day highlighted the biggest digital releases in previous year. The second part recognize achievements in physical album releases.
- Previous winner (Rookie Artist of the Year): Itzy, TXT (2020)
- Voting available only for 'Popularity Award', which is 100% determined by online votes via TikTok, and 'Fan's Choice K-Pop Star' award via Chinese music streaming platforms (GDA 2020).
2. Seoul Music Awards (Seoul Gayo Daesang) – January
- Started in 1990, is one of the biggest K-Pop event in South Korea. Also known as High1 Seoul Music Awards
- Criteria: have released albums during the year, 30% mobile votes and popularity poll, 30% digital downloads and album sales, and 40% judges’ scores
- Previous winners (Best New Artists): TXT, AB6IX, Itzy (2020) – not divided between male and female
- Votes for next year awards will start from this December 11th
- We can try to win this, though I must warn you, the competition will be much harder

3. Gaon Chart Music Awards – January
- One of the major music awards shows in South Korea
- Held by Gaon Chart, the national music record chart
- Gives awards to the winners based on data for sales of songs and albums from the previous year.
- Previous winners (New Artist of the Year): Itzy, TXT
- Votes for GCMA × Mubeat Global Choice Awards will start on December 7th
4. Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) – November 2020
- One of the biggest music awards that is broadcast on 4 continents: Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania
- Criteria: 30% official voting, 30% MAMA judges' evaluation, 20% digital chart data (album/song sales), 20% album sales, social media voting, global music video view counts, live social media voting
- Previous winners (Best New Artist): TXT, Itzy (2019)

5. MelOn Music Awards – December
- Another annual major music awards show in South Korea
- Based on digital sales and online votes collected from online music store MelOn
- Previous winner (Best New Artist): TXT, Itzy (2019)
- The official voting is ongoing. SN isn't nominated this time :(
"Rookie Grand Slam" is the term given to groups that have won the ROTY trophies at all these big 5 award shows mentioned above. Throughout history there have only been 5 groups (Shinee, iKon, WannaOne, TXT, and Itzy) who got that title. To be frank, our chance to get the same title for SN is pretty much none.
In fact, MAMA might have the highest (if not the only) winning possibility as most of the other awards' judging are based on album sales, without voting option available. Also by the fact that SN will have strong contenders next year. That's the reason why we're focused on getting victory at MAMA 2020.
