A fairy's hope
Chapter 4

The matriarch spoke with the Order of the Sorcerers.

They sent a group of apprentices on a mission to build the new portal to planet Earth.

The young fairies were instructed by the older ones; they were ready to learn about humans, and little by little hope returned.

The sorcerers were too skilled now; the portal would be finished in no time.

The apprentices worked enthusiastically while answering questions from curious fairies.

Every day people approached them to ask about other planets in Spiralis Arborea.

Mín
"I'm surprised that dragons have human form," said Min, miraculously still possessing wings; they were badly damaged and prevented him from flying.

"Our grandparents worked on a spell after the war," one explained. "It's easier to cure them if they're not the size of a hill."

"The dragons lost many of their kind," sighed another.

"They accumulated serious injuries in each battle, and in the end there was no way to treat them."

"In human form they can't be so fearsome, although I've never seen a dragon or a human," smiled a young fairy.

"They've misunderstood," another apprentice scoffed. "They still reach their original size, they can turn everything to ash with their fire..."

...their tails and claws could tear the oldest tree to pieces."

"Don't mess with a dragon, especially when it's angry," the first one added in a serious voice.

"Human appearance is a transformation; they use it when they visit other planets," said an apprentice to surprise them even more.

They continued talking until sunset; the sorcerers had a great knowledge of the races of Spiralis Arborea.

His planet was the only one that was connected to all the others through portals.

Narradora
Although their magic helped them recover from the war and make new discoveries...

Narradora
...it would not be enough to avert the great evil that was beginning to grow in one of them.

Winter knew she wouldn't see another fairy for a long time, so she continued to visit her mother in secret to talk.

They only had each other and freely shared their concerns.

Winter
"They should let the apprentices do their work without interrupting them," he said as he gazed at the waters of the ancient lake.

Matriarca
"They are curious; they only know of two planets."

Winter
"Pan's Planet counts as five," he crossed his arms. "Adults are rowdy, and don't even get me started on children."

Matriarca
"It's in their nature," she said, returning the lake waters to normal. "Their mischief has kept your sisters happy."

Winter
"Not all of them," she shrugged.

Winter
"You should be more flexible; one or two more portals would be enough for everyone to find a pleasant place off this planet."

Matriarca
"I could allow it," she said, glancing at Winter's elven necklace. "But I don't want the story of Cristal to repeat itself."

Winter
"It's not so terrible if it happens again, Cristal only broke two laws," he said, glancing up at the sky towards a star with a changing color.

Winter
"Unlike her, who broke the chains of our galaxy and then joined the Chaos Front"

Matriarca
"I will never understand her decisions," she sighed, looking at the star; one of her long-lived daughters lived there.
