A fairy's hope
Chapter 8

The matriarch had to find a solution to the problem; her daughters were no longer interested in the affairs of Spiralis Arborea.

Although none of them had mentioned it, I knew that they preferred humans because they considered them kind fairies.

Unlike other races who saw them as warriors who could fight in fierce battles.

She kept a close watch on the most powerful ones, hoping to find a sign of the old ideals that motivated them to protect the galaxy.

But he was unsuccessful.

Winter
"I thought you wouldn't have any worries now that everyone is happy," Winter said during a visit.

Matriarca
"I must choose a guardian for the galaxy," she said thoughtfully.

Winter
"I thought they didn't need our magic anymore," there was doubt in her voice.

Winter
"They abandoned us when we destroyed the portals. The fauns and sorcerers will do the same at any moment."

Matriarca
"It took them ages to notice our absence," he said slowly, trying to hide his sadness.

Matriarca
"They are worried that new dangers will end the peace we have achieved."

Winter
"They see us as a valuable weapon," she scoffed. "They just want a warrior to intimidate those who oppose the current kings and queens."

Matriarca
"And we'll give them what they ask for," he declared. "My only options are, Lia... and you."

Winter
"This has to be a joke!" Her expression was a mixture of astonishment and fear.

Winter
"Lia is easily manipulated; she never says no to anyone who asks her for help."

Winter
"On the other hand, my only duty is to the fairies; I have no intention of dealing with the curiosity of other races."

Matriarca
"I hope you understand my concerns now," she said, giving him an accusing look. "No fairy will volunteer for that task."

Winter
"It's time for the gentlemen to understand that you're not here to grant wishes," she smiled broadly, for the first time.

Winter
"They'll have to find another solution, without you."

Matriarca
"I can't leave them to their fate, I still feel responsible for the war," she said thoughtfully.

Matriarca
"Ellebni was right, we can stop evil but not completely exterminate it."

Winter carefully reviewed the matriarch's words, trying to figure out what she was thinking; she was confused and feared the worst.

Perhaps the evil fairy found a way to steal away her goodness; the galaxy was about to fall under her dominion.

No one would dare question her, not even the sorcerers.

Winter
"I think... we can... find a... way," she managed to say, her voice trembling. "If a fairy can keep the peace... I volunteer."

Matriarca
"You'll end up at odds with half the galaxy," she sighed deeply.

Matriarca
"I have no other choice, the blossoming must wait."

Matriarca
"I will use my powers to create an adult fairy, endowing her with great wisdom and a part of…"

Winter
"Crystal!" he exclaimed. "It's the only way, I'll thaw her even if you object."

Matriarca
"That's true, I don't know how I could have forgotten her!"

Matriarca
He immediately went to Winter's house. "There's no time to lose."

Winter
"And what will we tell the others when they see her?" the winter fairy appeared beside her.

Matriarca
"We'll think about that later, now we need to know what condition he's in," he replied as he walked down the main corridor.
