A fairy's hope
Prologue - Part 2

The matriarch took a few steps to the great oak tree; that was the first time they heard her speak in a deeply sad tone.

Matriarca
"The war is over," she said, her gaze sweeping over the gaunt faces watching her, "but we lost more than the Chaos Front."

Narradora
Chaos... the name taken by the races that started the war on Spiralis Arborea, in order to enslave the peaceful planets.

"What... what... do you want... mother?" asked a fairy with a trembling voice.

Matriarca
"You are the only survivors of our kingdom," she said, remaining silent as she felt her daughters' pain.

The unfortunate warriors wept; hundreds of their sisters had perished in the Star War.

"Did something bad happen to the little ones who stayed here?" a fairy inquired through tears.

Winter
"They are safe, however, their growth will be slow," she said, more coldly than usual.

Winter
"Sparks will fly until new sisters sprout from the flowers; this war has considerably depleted our mother's energy."

Matriarca
"For that reason, we will not use our powers in another battle," he stated carefully.

Matriarca
She knew the next announcement would cause her daughters more grief. "We won't be visiting humans either."

"But they need us, we take care of them while they find happiness," complained a fairy who had several charges on Earth.

Winter
"Angels also take care of humans," he added.

Winter
"We must take care of ourselves for the first time; our benevolent essence could lead to our extinction."

All the fairies listened, overwhelmed. They wouldn't go against the new mandate, but they were disgusted with Winter for her icy attitude.

Narradora
She was different from them and would never understand what they felt. Fairy magic is only useful if it helps other races, never themselves.

Fortunately, the cold-hearted sister lived alone in the frozen lands, and was rarely seen.

Matriarca
"The sorcerers will create a portal to the human world when my little fairies grow up," she said to reassure them.

"You must wait patiently; you are not in a position to leave this planet and do all the work."

Narradora
After finishing the speech, he led them to Bhell Caeruleum, the home of all fairies.

She tended to each of their wounds until nightfall and asked her young daughters to let them rest.

Then he went to the ancient lake to look one last time at Cristal, who had left with Winter after physically healing.

Cristal would turn into ice and its essence would become part of the frozen lands.

However, he was greatly surprised when he heard them. Once again, his defiant daughter was breaking the laws of the kingdom.
