Before Eunwoo could answer Baby, they were suddenly interrupted by the sounds of a car braking and stopping from outside the building. As they tried to hide they were discovered by the owner of the building who of course was not happy they were there. He yelled at them to get out before he called the police!
Unfortunately, Baby didn’t retrieve her backpack and all she had on her was her wallet of money she had saved. When they finally stopped running they were near some shops and Baby was now upset with herself for not grabbing her backpack. The money she had now would have to be used for what she had lost. Now realising she would need more money, Baby then stood reading the answer to her problem, a sign on a shop window, she read said, “HELP WANTED” so she entered the grocery shop to ask to work there.
The shop owner looked at her and asked her family name of which Baby replied Lee (her adopted name). He then said, “Oh I thought your family name would be Kim”. Baby wondered how he knew her mom’s family name that she asked, “Do I look like someone you know?”. He answered, “Yes you look just like a girl I grew up with when I was a boy”. “Really”, Baby wondered if it was her mom. She was curious and asked, “What was her name?”. He replied, “Kim Mi Young”. Baby couldn’t believe it. She finally found someone who knew her mother.
The shop owner was sad to hear that Baby’s mom and dad had died when she was just a baby. He told Baby about her dad and that he came from a wealthy family with royal lineage. They also disowned him because they didn’t approve of him marrying her mom. Her mom had grown up as the daughter of the housekeeper who cared for her father’s family household.
Baby was deeply saddened that her parents had to leave South Korea to start a new life in Hong Kong. She realised she herself would need to start a new life in Hong Kong too.
