Chàng Trai Đang Yêu
Phần 2

One Year Earlier

Y/N's POV

It was the first day of my freshman year of high school.

I was nervous as all h*ll.

I knew absolutely no one in Busan, as I'd just moved there with my parents after Dad got a new job.

I was really hoping I wouldn't get bullied.

I had bad enough self-esteem issues without anyone making it worse.

I was wearing one of my favorite outfits in an attempt to lessen my nervousness.

I took a deep breath, and pushed open the doors.

The loud hum of students conversing with each other greeted my ears as I entered.

I found the office fairly easily and was given my schedule.

Y/N
Okay, let's see, first class is History, in Room 22C.

I looked around, finally spotting the classroom.

Y/N
There it is.

I took another deep breath, then stepped inside.

The teacher looked up and smiled at me.

Teacher
Jang Y/N ?

I nodded.

Teacher
Welcome to Michigi High. Please take the empty seat beside the wall.

I nodded again and quickly took my seat, ignoring the whispers that began to filter through the air around me.

The door opened as the class was about to start, causing all of us to look up.

In the doorway stood a brunette boy who looked to be around my age.

Y/N
Holy sh*t, he's cute!

I mumbled to myself.

Teacher
Late as usual, Mr. Kim.

The teacher said, sounding annoyed.

Taehyung
You should be glad I even came today.

The boy growled.

???
That's Kim Taehyung.

The girl behind me whispered.

Girl
He's a sophmore. You'd do good to stay away from him.

Y/N
Why?

Girl
He's the most popular boy in the school, and also a notorious heartbreaker.

Girl
He'll hurt you and never look back.

Y/N
Oh. Thanks for telling me.

The girl nodded and leaned back.

The teacher then motioned for me to come back to the front.

Teacher
Class, we have a new student with us.

Teacher
This is Jang Y/N. She just moved to Busan.

Teacher
I want everyone to be nice to her, understand?

The entire class voiced agreement.

Teacher
Good.

Teacher
Taehyung, since you were late yet again, you are responsible for showing Y/N around.

Taehyung, who ended up sitting next to me, made a noise of protest.

Then he turned and looked at me, raking his gaze across my figure.

A smirk rose to his lips.

Taehyung
Yes, sir. I'll do it.

The teacher looked surprised, but said nothing.

Teacher
Very well then.

Teacher
Now that all that is settled, we will begin the class.

After the class ended, I gathered my things and stepped out of the room.

???
Hey!

I turned and saw Taehyung leaning against the wall.

My face instantly warmed.

Taehyung
I'm supposed to show you around, remember?

Y/N
Oh, right.

Taehyung
Let me see your schedule.

I handed him my schedule and he looked it over.

Taehyung
This'll be fairly easy. We have all but two of the same classes.

He smiled widely, his lips forming an adorable box shape that made my heart flutter.

The words my classmate had whispered to me were forgotten, lost in the charm that exuded from Taehyung like a sweet perfume.

Taehyung
Science is next, c'mon!

He grabbed my wrist and pulled me along behind him.

At lunch, Taehyung had insisted I sit with him and his brothers.

Not wanting to eat alone, I had agreed.

Taehyung's brothers were both older than him, and also hotter, if that were possible.

???
Who's this Tae?

One of them asked as we sat down with our food.

Taehyung
This is Jang Y/N. She's new.

Taehyung
Y/N, these are my brothers Namjoon and Seokjin.

Seokjn
Nice to meet you Y/N. You must be special.

Y/N
Huh?

Namjoon
Tae usually doesn't bring a girl to eat with us unless he realy likes her.

My face turned red as a tomato.

Taehyung glared at his brothers, who were both grinning misceviously.

Taehyung
The history teacher made me show her around because I was late.

I nodded in agreement.

The other two boys chuckled, but let it drop.

After lunch Taehyung, who insisted I call him Tae, showed me to my other classes.

The time passed in a blur, as I was unable to keep my mind off the handsome brunette I'd just met.

Luckily none of the teachers called on me, so my daydreaming went undetected.

At the end of my last class, I stepped out and found Tae leaned against the wall, as if waiting for someone.

Y/N
Tae? What are you doing here?

He grinned.

Taehyung
Turns out the house you moved into is next to mine.

Taehyung
Which means we can walk home together.

Had I know then what would come of this seemingly innocent moment, I would have turned him down flat.

But, like the naïve little teenager I was, I'd blushed.

Y/N
I-I'd like that.

Tae gave me his heart-melting box smile.

Taehyung
Let's go then.

He grabbed my hand and we exited the classroom.

Over the course of the semester Tae and I grew closer, becoming fast friends.

Then, one day, everything changed.

It happened halfway through the semester.

Midterms were right around the corner and I was having a major stress-out over my Math class.

As I hurriedly bid goodbye to Tae and approached my next class, I was stopped by an all-too-familiar group of girls.

Jisoo
Where do you think you're going, loser?

Jisoo questioned, as she and her friends stared me down.

Y/N
C-Class...

I'd stuttered, feeling suddenly vulnerable.

They all sniggered.

Lisa
C-Class...

Lisa taunted, mimicking me.

The four girls surrounded me, backing me against the lockers.

Rosé
A loser like you doesn't need to go to class.

Jennie
You're too dumb to learn.

Jisoo
Yeah, you're just a brainless loser.

As she said that Jisoo slapped me across the face.

Rosé
We've seen you hanging out with Tae all semester.

Jennie
He's Jisoo's guy, so back off.

Jisoo
He's just being nice cause he feels sorry for you, loser.

Jisoo
I'm the one he wants.

???
I disagree with that statement.

Said someone standing behind the girls.

They turned, and I saw Tae standing there looking furious.

Jisoo's expression instantly changed.

Jisoo
Tae, baby, what're you doing here?

Tae's face darkened.

Taehyung
First of all, I am not your baby.

Taehyung
Second of all, I have something I forgot to give Y/N.

Without another word, Tae stepped up to me and wrapped his lips around mine.

I was shocked, but quickly began to kiss back.

When we broke apart, the girls had left and we were alone.

I looked at Tae, confused.

Taehyung
You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that.

He whispered, rubbing his thumb over my cheek.

Y/N
Wh-What...

I was having trouble forming a coherent sentence.

Taehyung
I've liked you for a while now.

Taehyung
Jang Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?

My heart was pounding in my chest, and I'm sure my face was bright red.

I, too, had begun to like Tae.

Hearing him say he felt the same gave me a major self-esteem boost.

Y/N
I'd love that.

I said, smiling at him.

He smiled back and kissed me again.

After that, word spread quickly that we were together.

Jisoo and the others left me alone for the most part, as I was always with Tae or his brothers.

But near the end of the second semester, everything fell apart.

It was a month before finals.

Tae wasn't in either of my morning classes, and I was concerned.

At lunch, I approached one of my classmates to see if she knew anything.

Y/N
Hey, have you seen Tae?

Girl
Don't you know?

Y/N
Know what?

I asked, utterly confused.

Girl
Taehyung's family left for Seoul early this morning.

Y/N
Do you know why?

Girl
No, I don't. Sorry.

Y/N
I-I'ts okay. Thanks.

I felt crushed.

Why would he leave without telling me?

When I approached the table I'd sat at with Tae and his brothers, I found a folded note laying on the brown wooden surface.

I picked up and read it.

Taehyung
Dear Y/N,

Taehyung
We had to leave Busan for reasons I can't explain.

Taehyung
Thanks for the fun time.

Taehyung
Maybe we'll see each other again soon.

Taehyung
Sincerely,

Taehyung
Kim Taehyung

My heart broke.

Y/N
"Thanks for the fun time?"

He hadn't said it so many words, but if you read between the lines it was obvious that he'd been playing me this whole time.

Y/N
He never really loved me, he just used me as arm candy to make him look good.

"Look at Taehyung!"

"How thoughtful of him, being nice and dating the new girl."

I felt sick.

Y/N
Kim Taehyung, you son of a bi*ch.

Y/N
I will never forgive you for this.

Y/N
As long as I live, I will hate you for what you did to me.

The rest of the semester and the summer that followed it were absolute h*ll.

Taehyung's actions had obliterated my self-esteem.

I started cutting again, something I hadn't done in years.

I became extremely depressed, and for the first month or so after school let out, I hardly left my room.

But then mom and dad started fighting, which pushed all thoughts of Taehyung from my mind as I began worrying about their relationship.

Near the beginning of August, they divorced, and I moved to Seoul with mom.

Y/N
And that's my story.

Hoseok is staring at me in shock.

Clearly Taehyung hadn't told his new friends about any of this.

Hoseok
I can't believe Tae would do something like that.

I sigh.

Y/N
That's how he is.

Y/N
He hides behind his happy-go-lucky persona, never showing his true self.

Hoseok shook his head in disbelief.

Hoseok
I still can't believe it.

Y/N
Please don't say anything.

Hoseok smiles at me, and the room seems a little brighter.

Hoseok
I won't say a word.

Hoseok
I promised, and I always keep my promises.

I smile.

Y/N
Thanks.

Just then the bell rings.

Hoseok helps me to my feet and we return to the cafeteria to meet back up with the others.
