STRUCTURE: VERB STEM 았다/었다
Since it is past tense, it expresses a statement that is already completed in the past. *-*
To write it in Korean, follow the structure above.
*There is a rule in adding the above words to the verb stem. It's not confusing, but it requires you to memorize (I think) so it will be easy.
RULE:
(It's just the basic, and I think I have to add a separate episode for the rules *-*)
•If the verb stem ends with 아, 오 -- Use 았다
•If the verb stem ends with 어 -- Use 었다
EXAMPLES:
•먹다 - to eat
*먹 었다 = 먹었다 (ate)
WHY?
--- look at the last vowel in the verb stem, since it is 어 (in 먹) then you have to add 었다
•가다 - to go
*가 았다 = 갔다 (went)
WHY?
--- look at the last vowel in the verb stem, since it is 아 (in 가) then you have to add 았다. In this case where the last vowel is 아, just add ㅆ다 below. There is no need to repeat 아. (가았다--- INCORRECT)
SENTENCES:
제이는 학교에 갔습니다.
Jay went to school.
제이크는 점심을 먹었다.
Jake ate lunch.
VOCAB:
점심- lunch
NOTE: Watching any Korean shows will let you know more about the language. *-* Plus the songs too! Listen carefully to what they are saying and look for the words in the dictionary. As for me, I have 5 korean dictionaries in my phone... (just to make sure *-*)
In ENHYPEN's Vlive, (look at their past vids, those with subtitles) watch it first, then watch again without the subtitles. I think it'll help. You'll be able to memorize words (even just 5% of what they have talked haha...) *-*
