The Records Shattered: What ARIRANG Did to the Music World

Nothing quite prepared the music industry for what BTS's ARIRANG would do to the charts, the streaming platforms, and the record books. The numbers from this comeback read less like statistics and more like a history lesson.

Billboard 200: ARIRANG debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning 641,000 equivalent album units in the United States in its first week — the biggest week of 2026 thus far. It is BTS's seventh U.S. number-one album, following Proof (2022), BE (2020), Map of the Soul: 7 (2020), Map of the Soul: Persona (2019), Love Yourself: Answer (2018), and Love Yourself: Tear (2018). In its second week, ARIRANG held the No. 1 spot again with 187,000 equivalent album units — making it the album with the most weeks atop the chart among all of BTS's seven chart-toppers.

Vinyl Sales: Vinyl copies sold 208,000 units in the first week — BTS's best vinyl sales week and the largest by a group in the modern era since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991. It is the sixth-largest vinyl sales week for any album in the modern era; Taylor Swift holds the top five.

Hot 100: "Swim" debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100, becoming BTS's seventh chart-topper on that chart and sixth to debut at the top. All 13 vocal tracks from the 14-song album appeared on the Hot 100, with seven songs landing in the Top 50.

Spotify: ARIRANG became the most-streamed album in a single day in 2026 and set a new record as the most-streamed K-pop album in Spotify history. The album had more than five million pre-saves — one of the most pre-saved album Countdown Pages in platform history. Within two weeks of release, the album officially surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

Apple Music & Global Charts: On Apple Music, the album broke the record for most first-day streams for a pop group's album. In South Korea, it sold 4.2 million copies in its first week, making it the ninth best-selling album in the country's history. In the U.K., it debuted at No. 1, marking the third time BTS had reached the summit on the Official Albums Chart.

YouTube: BTS placed 11 songs within YouTube's Global Top Songs chart's top 100, with "Swim" hitting No. 1 after recording more than 83 million views worldwide.

Seven men. One album. An industry rewritten.
