Episode 2
A cool, such a scent.
From day one I thought I was taken.
But, strangely enough, I never ran into that teacher.
"Huh?!? Jeong Boram??"
"Huh?!? Senior??"
"What?? That outfit?"
My attire was a doctor's gown.
"You became a doctor???"
"Yes.. haha"
"Wow... daebak... how did we meet like this..."
"That's right... It's been a really long time, senior."
"Haha, I heard you went to Yonsei University, but I didn't know you'd come to our hospital... Inma! Let's keep in touch. Do you know that I haven't contacted you once since you entered college?"
"Oh.. is that so.... haha I'm sorry.. haha"
"No, well... you don't have to be sorry... haha anyway! Nice to meet you! Welcome, Jeong Bo-ram."
"Okay~"
I never dreamed that I would actually meet a senior voice actor.
My residency life continues to deviate from what I imagined.
"Boram~ Should I buy you coffee?"
"yes!!"
We couldn't go far because we were working, so we had coffee at the hospital cafe.
"Sorry, I'd love to take you, but let's do that next time."
"It's okay, haha. But you really have to go. It's good."
"Haha, yeah yeah~~"
The voice actor senior is my senior in middle and high school.
We were close friends as we went to the same school for a long time.
I sat in a small cafe with my senior, had a cup of coffee, and chatted about old times, and I didn't realize how much time had passed.
"Oh, I got surgery... Sorry, see you next time, Boram~~"
"Okay, let's go quickly~"
My senior, who had been smiling after checking his phone, suddenly ran off, panting. The sight of him behind me was truly comical.
I took a short break, but then went back to my routine.
And it was a great strength to have close friends among the people I was with in that daily life.
My life, as always, flowed according to a set manual. I liked doing what I was supposed to do, exactly as I was told. And that was the habit I had maintained until then.
Today, as always, I did what I had to do, just as I'd learned. It wasn't difficult, since I'd already learned it. I lived each day like that, and it felt comfortable to me. That's why my friends used to call me a robot.
Today, work finished a little earlier than usual.
I was so tired that I went up to the 11th floor to get some rest.
'uh..?'
That elevator fight... no, Mr. Kang Daniel was sitting on the chair and sleeping.
'I have to go out...'
"I'm not sleeping"
As I was about to go out again, he spoke to me.
"I'll go out. Take a rest."
"I told you not to sleep haha I was just thinking about it for a moment"
Mr. Kang Daniel stood up and said.
"I was just thinking about it for a moment. Take a break~"
That man, no, Mr. Kang Daniel, passed me by.
As he passed by, a cool breeze blew through the air, giving off a slightly refreshing scent.
"Oh, over there... that... the elevator before... this..."
I don't know what I was thinking when I said that. It just came out instinctively. It's never... ever... happened...
"Elevator? When are you talking about..."
"Ah.. no.. goodbye.."
"yes"
I was the only one who kept worrying.
'This guy... is so unlucky.... What the heck, I don't even remember, but I avoided it for nothing..;'
I sat in the chair where Professor Kang Daniel had sat earlier.
I'm so tired today... I closed my eyes for a moment and fell asleep lying face down before I knew it.
I had a dream. A very happy dream.
A man and I were in the middle of a beautiful flower garden, both of us smiling brightly. I was enjoying the feeling of happiness until I realized it was a dream.
"uh!"
I jumped up in surprise. Then I checked the time. Ten minutes had passed.
'Phew... Only 10 minutes have passed... Thank goodness..'
Then he turned his gaze straight ahead.
There was someone sitting in front of me, and that someone was looking at me.
"Ouch!! Surprise!!"
"Oh, I'm sorry... Did I startle you?"
"......Teacher Kang Daniel?! ....."
"Ah.. haha I left something behind earlier.."
"Oh, I see... So, did you find the car?"
"Yes"
"Well, that's a relief."
Mr. Kang Daniel got up from his seat and went outside.
"Oh, and what is Mr. Kang Daniel? Haha. I just call him Mr. Kang or Mr. Jeong."
"Ah... huh..."
He paused for a moment as he was leaving, then said this to me. I forced a smile and replied.
By the way, I almost lost it. I left something behind, so if you find it, you can just take it. Why are you just sitting there...?
I calmed my startled heart and left the room.
"Look, look, look~~"
On my way out, I ran into a senior voice actor.
"It's worth it? What's worth it?"
"Haha, that's fun~~ But did you sleep??"
"Ah... can you tell?"
"Yeah.. a mark on the face... haha it's a stamp haha"
"Ah... That was a mistake!..."
"What a mistake, you did well!"
"yes?"
"You did well.. You should rest a bit and do it."
"Hey, why are you talking like that? If someone saw me, they'd think I'm always up all night."
"Well, it's similar, isn't it?"
"Ah, senior!"
"ㅋ Take some rest and do it... Take care of your health too! That way, you can save others or not.."
It was so true that I couldn't respond.
"all right.."
I woke up again after hearing some sharp(?) advice from my senior voice actor.
And then I went back to my seat. I adjusted my doctor's gown and headed to the hospital room.
When I look into the hospital wards and see the sick, and those who are feeling better, the doctor's gown I'm wearing feels heavier. It feels like it's weighing down my shoulders.
But I had to persevere. I couldn't back down because the weight was too heavy. Instead, I had to take another step forward. Because I was a doctor. And everyone wanted that kind of doctor.
Today is the day of my first surgery, and I haven't slept well since yesterday.
I was so nervous that I was going back and forth this morning.
'Ha... Calm down... I'm not doing the surgery. I'm just an assistant...'
Standing in front of the operating room in scrubs, I felt nervous, but also ecstatic to be here. The visions I'd dreamed of unfolded before my eyes.
All of these things were so amazing that I stared at them intently, trying to take in as much as I could and engrave more on my mind.
"What are you doing, standing there blocking the entrance?"
"Oh, yes, I'm sorry.."
I was confused from the start...
"Surgery. Let's begin."
Huh...? Daniel Kang... Teacher, no, Mr. Kang???
It was a completely unexpected turn of events. I happened to witness the famous surgery right before my eyes.
"Mess"
"yes!"
"Hold this here."
"yes"
"Press here"
"yes"
Throughout the surgery, Dr. Kang did not look away or take a deep breath, focusing solely on the surgery.
And then, in a very short time, he pulled out the glass shards that had been embedded in the spine of the traffic accident victim and were stimulating the central nervous system.
Dr. Kang's actions during the surgery were clean and uncluttered. Not a single action was unnecessary. It was exactly as I'd read in the book.
"It's over."
With those words, he disappeared from the operating room.
Now I knew why Dr. Kang was so famous. During the surgery, I felt as if I was witnessing magic. The magic appeared like the wind and then vanished again. And as the wind passed, I could smell a cool, familiar scent.
