A short piece I wrote out of boredom

Could you tell me just once more that it’ll last forever—Noah

When I listen to your voice, it makes me want to believe in something called eternity?

Isn't that strange.

I know very well that there’s no such thing as eternity, but like a child’s dream that won’t come true, like a still-small kid who doesn’t know it won’t be realized, could you just believe it with me too?

You said we would last forever.

When the rain you like fell and I said we should go for a walk together, when you refused, when you said you wouldn’t eat the fish-shaped pastries you like, even that dawn when I waited for you alone.

But I wasn’t lonely.

The sound of the hands on the wall clock you gave me turning, and the filter in the fish tank full of fish you gave me keeping the water moving in the same rhythm over and over, the sound of water became my background music and drove away the cries ringing in my ears, which had only ever been confused, and the dolls you gave me watched over me warmly as I trembled from the cold beside them, and then, whenever I felt empty for even a moment and looked at the place where you stayed, there were the handwritten letters you wrote to me, so I was never lonely at all.

Because you were there, I was finally able to be happy.

You say you’re glad I found you, but even that was because you shone so brightly that I could spot you at a glance.

Thank you.

Still, if the emptiness doesn’t go away, look at your diary.

Sorry, but this is just too funny.

But after looking at the diary, I realized something: on the rainy day when I asked you to go for a walk, you knew I had a cold.

And that I liked fish-shaped pastries too.

Looking at it like this, you really do know a lot about me.

I feel like I don’t know much about you, though—could you tell me now?

In whatever way, however you say it, I’ll figure it out and understand it.

I know it’s late, but could you say once more that it’ll last forever?

"I want it to be forever"

"Let’s be forever"

"How? You said you didn’t believe in forever..."

"We’ll be forever. I’ll make it so. I’ll be with you for as many days as I can"

"Yeah. Let’s do that. Let’s be forever"

"Stay by my side"

"Yeah. I will. Forever"
