Side Story (8) Happy Ending

A year later, it was the airport. It had been a little over three months since Hae-joo returned. Hae-joo had actually expected Jung-kook to be there to greet her when she returned, but the case he was assigned to was delayed, and the remaining members had to be dealt with, leaving him to remain. However, the two overcame the hardships thanks to their mutual trust. And finally, with Jung-kook's undercover assignment complete, he entered the country later than Hae-joo.

""Please do it!"

Entering the arrival hall, Jungkook spotted Haejoo and waved. He walked toward her, his face radiant in the clear, early morning sunlight. His steps, returning from a major task, seemed light.

"Jungkook..!"

Haejoo, who had been standing with someone at one end of the arrival hall, waved and walked toward Jeongguk. Feeling happy to see him, Haejoo ran towards him with open arms.

"I missed you, Jungkook.."

Hae-joo gave Jeong-guk a brief hug, then smiled proudly and stepped aside.

"Hey~ Who did I come with...?

He nodded, as if to tell me to hurry, and when I looked to my side, I saw Jeongguk's mother, who had been left alone in Korea. Her face was filled with joy at seeing her son, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.

"mom..."

"Yeah, you can't see me and your girlfriend comes first...?"

Amidst the doubling of joy, Jungkook's mother playfully hinted at her disappointment. Haejoo, who had returned to Korea first, had been taking good care of Jungkook's mother. As Jungkook's absence grew longer and longer, she worried about his mother, and so Haejoo began visiting her. While she knew the two had surprisingly bonded, she hadn't expected them to arrive together. Jungkook was both delighted to see his mother and grateful to Haejoo.

"Hey, no, Mom, of course..."

"Haha no, you were a step late...?

Mom, Jungkook just entered the country...
It seems like you haven't slept in days, please just take a look once..ㅎㅎㅎ"

He grabbed the hands of the two people who helped him and gently made them reconcile.

"Yeah, Mom, look at me for a second~ing"

When Jungkook playfully smiled and apologized to his mother, his mother quickly smiled again.

"Oh my, really, how much did they miss each other...
Thank you for your hard work coming here."

Jeongguk's mother looked at her suffering son.
In her mother's eyes, Haejoo and Jungkook were a perfectly matched pair. When her son first told her he had a crush on a girl and that they were living together, Jungkook's mother had longed to see her. However, Jungkook had kept his girlfriend busy, so she had been secretly waiting for her. But when Jungkook was away, Haejoo came to visit her first. It was awkward at first, but Haejoo's frequent visits and care for her gradually made her feel attracted to him.

"So the case ended well..?"

"Now I have to go to the West and report to completely finish it.."

It seemed like Jeongguk still had a lot of work left to do. If I'd known this would happen, I wouldn't have made him a police officer. But since he liked it, I couldn't stop him. As always, his mother's heart ached to see her busy son.

""Should we go straight to the police station? Should we move our luggage?"

"Yes, please...
I think I should go straight to the west.

Now all I have to do is write the report,
I don't think that report will be anything out of the ordinary.."

"Oh, what the... Still, you accomplished something great, so you really worked hard..."

As Jungkook grumbled and handed over the carrier, Haejoo naturally accepted it and pulled it. The wheels of the carrier rolled along the pavement, making a cheerful sound.

""Jungkook, let's go. I'll take you to the west..."

Haejoo, who took the lead, felt reassured. With this woman by his side, Jeongguk felt like he could accomplish anything. Haejoo, too, met Jeongguk's eyes and smiled as he approached. Now, he would never doubt his feelings for Jeongguk again. The two were filled with confidence in each other.
