Yeoju is a high school senior nearing the end of her teenage years. Her days are similar yet slightly different from those of other students preparing for the college entrance exam, a major turning point in their lives. She quit all her academies after middle school, and she quit going to private academies after a short period of time in her first year of high school. And crucially, every Friday after school, Yeoju naturally heads to a place that no ordinary student would go. That is none other than a club. A club called ‘Kingdom’, located in the heart of Seoul’s most commercially developed entertainment district. The club is overflowing with people from all walks of life, from those just looking to have a night out to celebrities from politics and business who come to discuss important matters, but Yeoju, who stops by briefly after school before the club opens, is unaware of this fact.

"I'm here."

The staff all seemed to know Yeoju. Even when she came in wearing her gym uniform, no one dared say anything.

The heroine, seemingly familiar with the maze-like interior, enters the innermost room without wandering. As she sits there, doing her homework, someone bursts in through the door.

"Are you here? Sorry I'm late. There's a bit of traffic on the way home from work."

The person who summoned Yeoju here is none other than the owner of this kingdom. His name is Kim Seok-jin. He lives here on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, but from morning until evening on weekdays, he takes on the role of the son of a conglomerate CEO, handling paperwork. Finally, he's also responsible for the organization that supports this club and the company.

Seokjin smiled faintly and sat down across from Yeoju. Even with his smile, the coldness on his face and the atmosphere remained.

"How was your day?"

"Just like usual."

There's a polite exchange of words, and they just try to stay within the lines they've drawn.

"Okay. I've got Mr. Kim waiting outside, so go home and sleep first. Enjoy your dinner."

"yes."

After the female protagonist returned home, Seokjin got up from his seat and began preparing to greet the guests.

It was common knowledge that the son of a prominent Korean conglomerate ran the club. People in the political and business world would flock here simply because a member of the same conglomerate was the club's representative, spending an astonishing amount of money to flaunt their wealth. Many famous guests would come to bond with Seokjin, or to negotiate important deals. The rooms were always packed, and the stage and hall were filled with young people who had come all night to party and enjoy themselves well into the early hours.

Since it was natural to get tired when there were a lot of customers, I refused to accept customers who were drunk and passed out.

"President Kim!"

"hello."

"Oh. It's spacious, clean, and nice here. I had a lot of fun."

"Yes, please come in."

Conversations with drunken guests were even more tedious and uninteresting than the formal conversations I had just had.

Yeoju got out of the car and took in the mansion she and Seokjin lived in. It was luxurious and beautiful, but far too bare and spacious for the two of them. She declined the woman's invitation to dinner, saying it was fine, and went into her room, crouching on the bed. She quietly waited for Seokjin to return home at 6 a.m.

It had already been three years since they'd become like this. Ever since Seokjin appeared before the orphaned female protagonist and offered himself as her guardian.

Their first meeting, or rather, the first meeting of these two that only Seok-jin remembers, was when Yeo-ju was eight years old, and Seok-jin had just turned twenty and gotten involved in a gang fight. Yeo-ju's neighbor was the house where Jeong-guk, Seok-jin's secretary and friend, lived. When Seok-jin dragged Jeong-guk, covered in blood, to his aid, Yeo-ju's parents, who were doctors, treated him without asking any questions. This was their first meeting, and their last meeting before Seok-jin became her guardian.

And 8 years later, when the female protagonist's parents pass away in a car accident without being able to help them, Seok-jin and Jung-kook appear in front of the crying female protagonist.

"Let's go home."

Yeoju responds to Seokjin's words

"Who are you, sir?"

Then, she saw her close cousin, Jeongguk, standing next to her and hugged him while sobbing.

"boss."

This title is just one of many, many ways to refer to Seokjin. At work, when he's neatly dressed, pen-wielding, signing documents, and holding meetings, he's "Chief." When he's greeting guests and running a club early in the morning, he's "Boss." Finally, when he's wearing the same suit, but without a tie, with a couple of top buttons undone, and sitting comfortably at his desk, he's "Boss." Seokjin is currently at the club, having rushed over after hearing news of an injury to a member of his organization. Jungkook, who's effectively taking charge of the organization's affairs in Seokjin's busy schedule, speaks.

"Yong-gu, who was on a mission in Area C, was shot in the arm and is being treated by the doctor."

"Vengeance? What about the others?"
"I guess we'll have to check that out, but judging by the bullet casings and the location of the shots, it looks like they're the guys we shot together with in Zone Z last time."

"What do they believe in to come rushing in like this?"

A smile spread across Seokjin's face as he returned home in the wee hours of the morning. The stress he felt from doing multiple things at once was no less than he thought, and he was on the verge of exploding with irritation at the sight of so many people tiring him out. But he was able to smile like this because he thought of Yeoju, who must be sleeping soundly at home.

"Madam, did you eat dinner last night?"
"No. I said okay because he said he was going to go to bed early."

"All right.Oh, and next week, Yeoju's parents' memorial service is in the middle of the week, so she'll be really depressed. I'll ask that you prepare all the food that Yeoju likes. Please take good care of her even when I'm not around."

Seok-jin, who only goes to the club on Fridays and weekends to spend evenings with Yeo-ju, always checks in with her like this: Did she eat dinner well? Did she have any nightmares? Did she feel sick? He invites her to the club after school on Fridays for a similar reason. Since they can't meet in the evenings, he wants to be able to see her face and talk then.
