"Oh? Free, are you working overtime today?"
Seeing Free still not tidying up his desk, Bambi asked.
"Yeah, I have something I have to finish today no matter what. You head home first!"
"I see. Good luck."
Feeling disappointed that she had wanted to talk things over, Bambi headed for the office exit.
When she left the lobby, a familiar red motorcycle was waiting there.
"Hello, Mr. Chaebonggu."
Eunho, standing beside the motorcycle, greeted her with a friendly smile.
"Hello, Eunho. It looks like Free is working overtime today."
Bambi, who was shy around strangers, answered while feeling nervous toward Eunho, whom she was talking to for the first time.
"Yeah, I got a message a little while ago. But I was nearby, so I thought I’d just wait here. We run into each other a lot, but this is our first time talking, isn’t it? I wanted to have a conversation sometime."
"Ah, I see. Sorry, I’m not very good at starting conversations myself……."
"Haha, I see. Free told me. At first, you two didn’t really keep the conversation going. But once you got close, she said you were really fun and precious to her."
So Free had thought that at the beginning. But it probably was true.
She had always brightened up and kept talking to me even though I wasn’t good at talking, so I was able to open up.
Suddenly, she became curious what reaction he would have if she told him the advice she had been planning to give Free. What expression would he make if she said she wanted to stay by her side?
"Actually, I haven’t told Free yet. I’ve been thinking because I got an offer to move overseas. I’m happy to be recognized for my abilities, but I’m sad to leave my current environment…… Free is here too, and I don’t want to leave."
She knew that the last line was something she should absolutely never say to a lover. Afraid, she cautiously lifted her head, and Eunho, who had been nodding along and listening seriously, spoke up.
"It’s lonely to part ways when you’re this close. But isn’t it hard to stay by someone’s side with such uncertain feelings?"
She realized he wasn’t saying it to be sarcastic. He was worrying about Bambi even while noticing how she felt.
"D-Do I stand out that much?"
When she asked, swallowing hard,
"Well, maybe because we see things the same way. Either way, I hope you choose the one you won’t regret."
Eunho said.
"Oh? What are you two doing?"
Free, who came out of the building, called out. Bambi squeezed her eyes shut, then let out a sigh, and
"Eunho, I’ve made up my mind. Please keep what I just said a secret. I’ll tell her myself."
she said.
"Understood."
Eunho nodded, then turned to Free and raised his voice to match the timing as she approached.
"Free, good job."
Even after the two of them left, Bambi couldn’t move for a while.
He hadn’t teased her, gotten angry, or awkwardly comforted her—he had simply listened to her sincerely. Just that was enough for her to know he wasn’t a bad person.
"If he were a bad guy, I could’ve hated him."
Bambi murmured that in a voice almost fading away.
